The duo uses their social media page to indirectly shade the headies organisers.
Nigerian highlife band, The Cavemen, has sent an indirect message to the organisers of the Headies award after their recent nomination.
On Tuesday 1st of March, 2022, the Headies awards founder and Executive Producer Ayo Animashaun announced that the 2022 Headies will be leaving the shores of Nigeria.
The highlife duo sent an oblique message to the award’s organizers concerning the category in which they were nominated.
The Headies Awards, which honours the Nigerian music scene, will take place on September 4th, 2022 at the COBB Energy Performing Arts Center in Atlanta, Georgia.

The Cavemen, comprised of brothers Kingsley Okorie, a bassist, and Benjamin James, a drummer, received nominations in the “best alternative song” and “best alternative album” categories, with Wizkid, Ayra Starr, and Brymo.
However, the highlife band took to their Twitter page to express their opinion on being nominated in the alternative category when, in actuality, they are a highlife band.
They wrote:
“Highlife is not an alternative, o” which translates to” Highlife is not alternative,”
The statement sent a message to the organisers that they were nominated in the wrong category.
Highlife no be alternative o 🌴😂💀
