We won’t allow you ridicule Afrobeats – Davido’s hypeman, Special Spesh knocks Grammy, shades Tyla
Special Spesh, the hypeman for music sensation Davido, has taken aim at the Grammy organizers following the absence of wins for the singer and other Nigerian nominees at the 66th Grammys. Despite the snub, Tyla, the sole non-Nigerian nominee in the inaugural Best African Music Performance category, walked away with the award.
Expressing his discontent, Spesh accused the Grammy organizers of attempting to manipulate African music, asserting that Africa will not allow them to undermine Afrobeats or any other African genre.
In a further expression of dissatisfaction, he subtly criticized Tyla by alluding to the explicit lyrics in her Grammy-winning song ‘Water‘ with the phrase “Make me squ*rt.”
“Gbedu about squ*rting don win,” the hypeman captioned.
Ranting on his Instagram page, Spesh wrote: “We won’t give you the power to dvmb Afrobeats down or Afrofusion or anything African!
“That’s (white) America’s problem! When things start to take over and get massive they always want a part then try to have a say then try to control.”
