“Thank you for all you do for me and my colleagues” – Davido appreciates Grammy award winner Angelique Kidjo following their music collaboration ‘Joy’
Nigerian artist Davido has expressed profound gratitude to legendary Grammy Award winner Angelique Kidjo following the success of their collaborative track, “Joy.”
Released on August 30th, the nostalgic song has been making waves online, marking the second collaboration between the two artists, following their earlier track “Na Money” from Davido’s acclaimed “Timeless” album.
During a recent live session, Davido couldn’t contain his excitement and gratitude towards Angelique Kidjo. He thanked her not only for their collaboration but also for her continuous efforts in promoting African music on the global stage.
The “Unavailable” singer shared that he has always idolized Kidjo, having grown up listening to her music. He expressed deep appreciation for the 64-year-old music legend’s unwavering support, noting that she has always been there for him whenever he needed her.
In his words, Davido said, “I used to come to Cotonou, Benin, I grew up listening to your music. Thank you for all you do for me and my colleagues like Stonebwoy.”

Angelique Kidjo, a Beninese-French singer-songwriter, actress, and activist, has won five Grammy Awards and is a 2023 Polar Music Prize laureate. Her illustrious career includes collaborations with numerous global artists such as Bono, Branford Marsalis, John Legend, Peter Gabriel, Alicia Keys, Carlos Santana, Sting, Ziggy Marley, Yemi Alade, Burna Boy, and many others.
