‘It’s time to break that cycle of negative self-talk’ – Terry G

Nigerian singer Gabriel Oche Amanyi, better known as Terry G, has shared a heartfelt message urging his followers to break free from the cycles of negative self-talk shaped by their childhood experiences.
Posting on his Instagram Stories on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, the self-styled Akpako Master addressed the frequent discouraging remarks he receives online.
He noted that such words are often less about personal judgment and more about deep-rooted conditioning passed down from upbringing.
“Our Nigerian parents really do many of us strong thing,” he wrote. Terry G explained that when people repeat phrases like “you’ll never make it” or “you can’t do this,” they are often echoing the same discouragement they once heard at home.
He emphasised that this ingrained negativity is a significant reason why many adults remain trapped in failure. “It’s time to break that cycle. It’s time to change that mindset,” he urged.
