Terry G, a Nigerian artist, revealed his top five Nigerian artists that he believes make great music.

During a recent interview with the Honest Bunch Podcast, which aired online on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, Terry G discussed his musical goals, stating which Nigerian artists he believes are talented and truly do music.

The hitmaker, whose distinctive blend of White Garment gospel music and Konto music drove him to global stardom, has highlighted Ruger, Rema, Joeboy, and Fireboy as stars he wants to collaborate with in the future.

Terry G ranked Burna Boy first among Nigerian artists, followed by Wizkid, Davido, Tiwa Savage, and Tems.

Throughout the conversation, Terry G distinguished between musicians generating commercial music and those creating what he refers to as “real music,” which is made for more than just digital consumption. When asked to name his top five Nigerian artists making “real music,” Terry G named Rema, Tems, Omah Lay, and Tiwa Savage.

Terry G made news earlier this year when he declared his retirement from music, claiming anger with today’s artists who ignore his words. However, the street music legend’s retirement was short-lived, as he released a new single just one week following the announcement.

Terry G underlined the significance of keeping true to oneself and having faith in one’s skill when giving advise to budding artists. His words serve as a reminder to young musicians to be authentic and resilient as they pursue artistic expression and success.

Recall, Terry G has openly disclosed the reasons behind the decline of his music career, pointing fingers at his former management team for their alleged deceitful actions.

In a heartfelt Instagram post on Sunday, January 28, 2024, he accused his former management team of overbooking him without his availability, refusing to refund show promoters for missed events, and causing damage to his brand.
