Nigerian singer Terry G has stepped forward to defend Burna Boy as conversations continue to swirl around the viral clip showing the Grammy-winning star sending out a couple who seemed to be sleeping during his performance.

The incident happened at one of Burna Boy’s recent shows, and the online reaction was swift and divided.
While some fans blasted the move—and even claimed they would skip his upcoming concerts—others argued that falling asleep at a lively concert was unusual in the first place.
Into this heated conversation walked Terry G, offering a perspective that quickly grabbed attention.
In a video shared online, Terry G questioned why anyone would pay for a live show only to dose off mid-performance.
To him, the backlash was simply another example of how public figures are easily targeted for criticism.
He pointed out that in other settings, such behaviour wouldn’t be tolerated for a second. In his words, if someone drifted off in church, ushers would be instructed to rouse them immediately.
But when it happens at a concert, cameras magically appear, ready to cast the musician as the villain.
Terry G’s defence was blunt and unmistakable.
He said: “Una too like to dey hold people accountable just because dem don be public figure. If this thing happen for church and person dey sleep, pastors go tell ushers to wake am. But because he’s a musician, you go his show to sleep so camera fit capture am and spoil his performance.”
To him, the moment wasn’t just about a sleepy couple—it was about how easily narratives can be twisted when a celebrity is involved.
“If it happened in a church and someone was found sleeping, would the pastors not ask the ushers to wake them up, Because he’s musician, you are going to his show to sleep, so the camera can capture that moment and spoil his show”
