Teni Says Her Father's Death Inspired'Wait'Teni the Entertainer has said that her father’s death inspired her hit song ‘Wait’.

Her father, Simeon Apata was a civil war veteran murdered by unknown gunmen on January 8, 1995.

Teniola’s father has been said to have been an important figure in Isolo and it’s environs. He founded the Apata Memorial School, Isolo.

The singer who is sister to Niniola, shares the story of her father’s inspiration at the Industry Nite event at Hardrock Café, Victoria Island, Lagos.

Teni who was the headline artiste for the event, also shared stories of the hardship she had to face in her education, adding that it inspired ‘Uyo Meyo‘

The ‘Uyo Meyo’ singer said: “Wait tells the love story between my mum and dad. I got the inspiration when my dad passed and my mum was crying, wishing he could have stayed back.”

“I recorded Uyo Meyo for my graduation ceremony because it took me seven years to graduate. My sisters graduated before me; so, it was a big deal for me on the day I graduated. I did the song for myself and everyone who hopes to achieve something.”
