Erik ten Hag sends Jadon Sancho message over Man United return.
After being dropped from the starting lineup, Jadon Sancho, according to Erik ten Hag, is in charge of his own future at Manchester United.
Prior to the break, Sancho was benched from the team that lost to Arsenal, and he later claimed that Ten Hag had used him as a “scapegoat” when the manager questioned his work ethic in the gym.
Sancho was told to train separately from the senior team after refusing to apologize to Ten Hag for his comments, which he had publicly criticized the manager for a week on his social media page.
Ten Hag acknowledged he “did not know” whether Sancho would ever play for the club again in the immediate wake of the choice to reprimand the winger.
However, the manager now seems to have thrown Sancho a lifeline by telling the 23-year-old he is in charge of his own fate at United.
“It depends on him,” Ten Hag said when asked if Sancho’s time at the club could be coming to an end. “For the rest, we are preparing for Burnley and that’s our focus.
“He will not be in the squad.”
Although Sancho will undoubtedly miss out, Ten Hag was optimistic that a few of his injured players would be eligible to play against Burnley again.
“Harry Maguire, we will see again after training,” he continued. “But [Raphael] Varane will train, we will see, [Sofyan] Amrabat will train, we will see and [Mason] Mount as well.
“But they didn’t play for short or longer-term. Varane, obviously, was the shortest out.”
Despite dropping to 13th place in the Premier League standings, United is still the overwhelming favourite to defeat Burnley, who have only one point from their first four games in the top flight of England.
