Erik ten Hag denies preferential treatment of Antony & Jadon Sancho at Man Utd
Manchester United manager, Erik ten Hag, vehemently denies allegations of differential treatment between Jadon Sancho and Antony in a recent press conference.
Antony is on the verge of returning to full training and becoming eligible for selection, just a little over two weeks after being granted a leave of absence to address serious assault allegations made by his ex-girlfriend and two other women.
Antony, who firmly denies these allegations, has cooperated with the police in their investigation of the accusations brought forth by Gabriela Cavallin. Meanwhile, Jadon Sancho remains outside the squad, having accused the manager of unfairly singling him out as a scapegoat. There is no indication as to when Sancho might be reintegrated into the team.
Ten Hag was unequivocal in stating that the situations of Antony and Sancho are entirely unrelated. He emphasized, “Those issues are nothing to do with each other, nothing. One is internal, the other one is external.”
When pressed for further details on Sancho’s status, Ten Hag declined to provide more information, expressing frustration: “Many of you ask me this so often, these questions, and I have said everything. I said everything,” he remarked.
Antony will not be available for the match against Crystal Palace, but he is expected to resume training on Saturday.
He has not participated in training or played for Manchester United since the team’s 3-1 loss to Arsenal on September 3. Additionally, he was dropped from the Brazil squad earlier in the month after more details regarding the allegations against him surfaced.
Manchester United is set to face Crystal Palace on Saturday, just four days after defeating them 3-0 in the Carabao Cup.
