Tems makes history with Oscar nomination [Check Full Nomination List].
The 2023 Oscar nominee list has been released, and Nigerian international Afrobeats superstar Temilade Openiyi, popularly known as Tems has made history by being the first Nigerian artist to receive a nomination.
Following her Golden Globe nomination, multiple award-winning singer and musician Tems was acknowledged once more for her enormous contribution to music by becoming the first and only Nigerian artist in history to be nominated for the Oscars in 2023.
This nomination comes after the Golden Globe awards nomination in December 2022 as well. Tems has continued to exceed and transcend existing barriers to this day, having been acknowledged by the most prestigious international awards as well as on the music charts.
For her enormous contribution to the writing of “Lift Me Up” for the Marvel-produced Black Panther Wakanda Forever, Tems received an Oscar nomination for Best Original Song.
The 2023 Oscar voting period will occur from March 2 until March 7. Jimmy Kimmel, a comedian and talk show host, will preside over the 2023 Oscar ceremony, which is scheduled to take place on Sunday, March 12 at the Dolby Theater.
