Tems makes history on Apple Music US with her debut album
Nigerian international star Tems has achieved the highest peak for a Nigerian female artist on Apple Music US.
On June 7, 2024, Tems released her highly anticipated debut album, ‘Born In The Wild,’ which has seen significant early success across streaming platforms. Notably, her debut album ‘The Year I Turned 21‘ reached No. 5 on the Apple Music Album Chart, setting a new record for the highest charting position by a Nigerian female artist.
In her debut album, Tems showcases her personal and artistic growth through songs that reflect her R&B and new soul influences, while also exploring genres such as Afrobeats and hip hop.
The 18-track album features guest appearances from Afrobeats superstar Asake and American Grammy-winning rapper J. Cole.
With her latest achievement on the Apple Music US Album Chart, Tems joins the ranks of Nigerian artists whose projects have peaked in the top 5 of the Apple Music US Album Chart.
Davido’s record-breaking album ‘Timeless‘ peaked at No. 2, a record he shares with Burna Boy’s ‘I Told Them‘ and Wizkid’s ‘S2‘ EP.
Asake’s sophomore album ‘Work of Art‘ reached No. 4, the same as Burna Boy’s ‘Love, Damini‘ and Wizkid’s ‘More Love, Less Ego.‘ Seyi Vibez’s ‘NAHAMciaga‘ EP and Olamide’s ‘Unruly,’ along with Wizkid’s ‘Made In Lagos,’ all peaked at No. 5.
Recall, Tems achieved a remarkable milestone with the release of her debut studio album, “Born in the Wild,” which debuted at #28 on the UK Official Albums Chart.
Tems is also gearing up for her “Born in the Wild World Tour,” which will take her to numerous locations across Europe, North America, Africa, and Asia. The tour kicks off on June 12 and will feature special guests Naomi Sharon and Lekan, promising an exciting live experience for her fans around the globe.
