Tems debunks reports on her perspective about Nigerian music.
Following her candid conversation with rapper Kendrick Lamar, Nigerian R&B artist Tems has addressed unfounded rumours that she criticized Nigerian music for being basic and lacking depth.
Tems responded right away to the untrue reports that were being spread about her most recent interview, in which she was misquoted as calling Nigerian music “plain and basic.”
She fiercely disputed these claims, expressing her tremendous admiration for the depth and complexity of Nigerian music as well as its cultural relevance.
Tems responded to the false accusations in the comments area of a post on social media site X, formerly known as Twitter, stating that she never stated anything along those lines and that it was offensive and embarrassing for such a media outlet to imply such a thing.

In her interview with Kendrick Lamar, Tems discussed a wide range of topics, including how she first became interested in music, the reasons behind her decision to start creating her own songs, and the difficulties she faced as a working musician.
