Nigerian music sensation Tems has announced the cancellation of her highly anticipated “Born in the Wild” concert in Rwanda, originally scheduled for March 2025.

The singer attributed the decision to her newfound awareness of the ongoing conflict in East Congo, which has drawn global attention in recent months.
The Grammy-winning artist made the revelation via her social media platform on Thursday, January 30, 2025. In a heartfelt post, she apologized to fans and expressed regret over her initial lack of awareness regarding the situation in East Congo and Rwanda’s involvement in the crisis.
“So I recently promoted my show in Rwanda without realising that there is ongoing conflict between Rwanda and Congo,” she wrote on X. “I never ever intend to be insensitive to real-world issues, and I sincerely apologize if this came across that way. I simply had no idea this was going on. My heart goes out to those affected. Conflict is no joke and I truly hope and pray for peace in this time.”

Tems further emphasized that her decision was not meant to stir controversy but to show respect for the realities on ground. She reiterated that her intention was never to disregard global issues and extended her heartfelt sympathies to those affected by the crisis.
The cancellation of the Rwanda concert has sparked mixed reactions among fans, with many commending the singer for her swift response and sensitivity to the matter.
Others, however, have expressed disappointment over the development, as they had been eagerly anticipating her performance in the East African country.
As one of Nigeria’s most prominent voices in the global music scene, Tems has continued to earn accolades for her artistry and impact.
The “Born in the Wild” tour, tied to her upcoming album, has been highly anticipated by fans worldwide. While the Rwanda leg has now been scrapped, it remains to be seen whether the singer will make alternative plans to engage with her East African fanbase shortly.
