Tempoe Confirms Scrapping of Omah Lay’s Previous Album, Says He ‘Had to Stand in the Way’ to ‘Protect His Legacy’
Superstar producer Tempoe has finally addressed a long-rumoured incident in Omah Lay’s career, admitting he “had to stand in the way” of the singer’s previous album, ultimately leading to the entire project being scrapped.
Speaking on the WithAnSpod podcast on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, Tempoe revealed the difficult creative decision behind shelving the body of work, offering fans a rare glimpse into the behind-the-scenes challenges of making a career-defining album.
“It is true. It was a lot of songs that he loved that were on that wave. He wanted to put some of them out but I had to stand in the way of some of them,” Tempoe said.
“As a producer, sometimes you have to see the bigger picture and protect the artist from themselves. The goal is not just to release music, but to create a legacy.”
