Taylor Swift has been named the World’s biggest artiste for the year 2019 by the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI).
Taylor Swift claimed the number one spot with her Album “Lover” which she released in August 2019 with the album reaching three million album-equivalent sales worldwide by the end of its first week of release.
Taylor Swift beat Ed Sheeran, Post Malone, Billi Eilish, Queen, Ariana Grande among others to claim the top spot. With Ed Sheeran coming second with his “No. 6 Collaborations Project” which featured the likes of Stormzy, Camille Cabello, Cardi B, and Khalid.
IFPI also awarded Taylor Swift the Global Recording Artist of the year making it the second time she has won it, the first being 2014.
IFPI, the organization that represents the recorded music industry worldwide releases what is called “The ‘top ten’ list yearly which showcases some of the brightest and most talented artists from around the world, from newer stars, such as Billie Eilish and BTS, to legacy acts like The Beatles and Queen.
