Taylor Swift Wins Historic Fourth Album of the Year Grammy for ‘Midnights’
Taylor Swift took center stage and made history at the 2024 Grammy Awards, stealing the spotlight by securing the Album of the Year accolade for the fourth time. This remarkable feat establishes her as the first performer ever to achieve such a milestone in Grammy history.
Swift’s victorious album was the 2022 blockbuster “Midnights,” propelling her past the previous record-holders Stevie Wonder, Paul Simon, and Frank Sinatra, each with three Album of the Year wins.
The prestigious award was presented to Swift by the legendary pop singer Céline Dion, who made a surprise appearance at the event, overcoming health concerns. During the ceremony, Swift also surprised fans by announcing a new album.
In addition to Swift’s historic win, Miley Cyrus and Billie Eilish claimed other top honors at the Sunday night ceremony. The Album of the Year award, received by Swift for “Midnights,” is a testament to her enduring impact on the music industry.
The Grammy Awards in Los Angeles showcased a notable dominance of women, with R&B stars SZA and Victoria Monét, along with the all-female indie supergroup Boygenius, earning multiple awards. Music icons Tracy Chapman and Joni Mitchell delivered rare and poignant performances, contributing to a memorable evening.
The top male winner, Killer Mike, won three rap awards. He was “booked for misdemeanor battery” by LA police following an alleged brawl backstage, which overshadowed his accomplishment.
