Taylor Swift overtakes Rihanna to become world’s richest female musician
Taylor Swift has reached a new milestone, becoming the richest female musician in the world with an estimated net worth of $1.6 billion, according to Forbes as of October 7, 2024.
Swift’s financial ascent has seen her surpass Barbadian superstar Rihanna, whose net worth stands at $1.4 billion. This marks Swift’s entry into the billionaire league, driven entirely by her music, making her the first artist to achieve billionaire status based solely on her songs and live performances.
Forbes attributes Swift’s financial success largely to her sold-out “Eras” tour and the immense value of her music catalogue. Close to $600 million of her fortune comes from touring and royalties, with another $600 million from her music catalogue and $125 million invested in real estate.
On the Forbes list of billionaires, she is now ranked at #2,117.
In comparison, Rihanna, who previously held the title of the richest female musician, ranked #2,336 on the updated list. Much of Rihanna’s wealth stems from her ventures outside of music, particularly her Fenty Beauty and Savage x Fenty brands.
Swift now trails only Jay-Z, the wealthiest musician in the world, whose net worth is estimated at $2.5 billion.
This milestone highlights Swift’s enduring impact on both the music industry and the business world.
