The passion of the fans, the atmosphere around the club, and the sense of belonging he experienced even before stepping on the pitch were key factors in his decision.

The Nigerian forward was particularly moved by the support of the Galatasaray faithful. Fans tracked his arrival and spectacularly welcomed him, creating a bond that left a lasting impression. For Osimhen, the emotional connection outweighed any financial considerations or prestige from other clubs.

“When I left Napoli, do you know how many people told me, ‘Do not go to Turkey. Are you crazy?’ A former agent even told me, ‘No, no, no. Don’t go there. It’s not a smart move.’ But I think with my heart. I wanted to play for Galatasaray. I wanted to go to a top three club in the world in terms of passion. Those are the kind of people who really understand me. When I spoke to Okan Buruk on the phone, before I signed, he told me, ‘I’m here to tell you that I personally, as a person and as a coach and as a father, I want you in my club. When the flight landed, there were 3,000 Gala fans waiting for me in the middle of the night. That feeling is worth more than money.”

The 25-year-old also highlighted personal happiness as a major motivator. He described feeling “very happy” at Galatasaray and emphasized the comfort he enjoys both on and off the pitch, something he believes is rare given the constant pressures top footballers face.

Interestingly, Osimhen revealed that he had other significant opportunities, including interest from European heavyweights like Juventus.

Yet, despite the allure of such clubs, he followed his heart, choosing the passion and connection he felt in Istanbul over mere prestige.

For Osimhen, the decision was simple: play where he feels understood, valued, and truly at home.

The commercial marries Burna Boy’s signature sound with striking visuals celebrating African culture, while also spotlighting sports icons Asisat Oshoala, Victor Osimhen, Cheslin Kolbe, and Benni McCarthy. Together, they showcase the excitement of sports entertainment through SportyBet’s intuitive platform.

The commercial marks a milestone in Burna Boy’s partnership with Sporty Group, which began when the artist was named the company’s global brand ambassador. Since then, the collaboration has produced culturally resonant campaigns that blend music, fashion, and sports.

“This TV commercial represents the next step in a strong partnership between Sporty Group and African music legend, Burna Boy,” said Elias Gallego, Vice President of Marketing Media at Sporty Group. “Our campaign has helped us showcase the beauty and cultural wealth of Africa through music, fashion, and sports. It is the perfect expression of our shared vision and represents the natural progression of a partnership that has already delivered incredible creative moments.”

Earlier this year, in January, the partnership released the music video for Burna Boy’s single “For Everybody,” which captured global attention. The new television commercial builds on that success, highlighting Burna Boy’s magnetic presence while reinforcing Sporty Group’s commitment to world-class experiences for its users.

“Burna Boy embodies the spirit of excellence, authenticity, and global cultural impact that aligns perfectly with SportyBet’s values,” added Gallego. “This campaign demonstrates our commitment to elevating sports entertainment through meaningful cultural partnerships.”

The commercial is scheduled to air across key television networks in Sporty Group’s major markets starting Tuesday.

The Nigerian forward found the net in the high-stakes encounter, taking his Champions League tally for the season to seven goals and 13 overall since joining the Istanbul giants.

His goals have been instrumental in Galatasaray’s strong push through the group stage, significantly boosting their hopes of reaching the knockout rounds.

One of the defining moments of Osimhen’s European campaign was his sensational hat trick against Ajax. With that feat, he became only the second Nigerian to score three goals in a single Champions League match, a performance that underlined his clinical finishing and big-game mentality.

His consistency has also etched his name into Galatasaray’s history books. Osimhen became the first player in the club’s history to score braces in back-to-back Champions League matches, joining the ranks of legendary forwards such as Burak Yılmaz, who previously delivered memorable European performances for the club.

On the national front, Osimhen’s achievements carry even greater significance. He surpassed the long-standing Champions League goal record held by Obafemi Martins, officially becoming Nigeria’s highest-scoring player in the competition.

With decisive goals, historic milestones, and commanding displays in crucial fixtures, Osimhen continues to cement his status as one of the most influential African forwards in European football today.

At the top of the goal charts sits Morocco’s Brahim Díaz, who has been in devastating form throughout the group stage. With five goals in five matches, the attacker has consistently delivered when it matters most, making him the current leading scorer of the competition.

Close behind is Nigeria’s Victor Osimhen, whose presence in the box has once again proven decisive. The Super Eagles striker has found the net four times in five games, continuing his reputation as one of Africa’s most reliable goal scorers on the big stage.

Nigeria also boasts another strong contender in Ademola Lookman, who has contributed three goals from five appearances. He shares this tally with Lassine Sinayoko (Mali), Ayoub El Kaabi (Morocco), Mohamed Salah (Egypt) and Amad Diallo (Ivory Coast), all of whom have delivered crucial goals for their nations.

Perhaps the most eye-catching efficiency belongs to Riyad Mahrez. The Algerian captain has scored three goals in just two matches, underlining his impact whenever he steps onto the pitch.

Highest goal scorers at AFCON 2025

Brahim Díaz (Morocco) – 5 goals (5 matches)

Victor Osimhen (Nigeria) – 4 goals (5 matches)

Riyad Mahrez (Algeria) – 3 goals (2 matches)

Amad Diallo (Ivory Coast) – 3 goals (5 matches)

Beyond the goals, creativity has been just as influential. Ademola Lookman has stood out not only as a scorer but also as the tournament’s leading provider, recording four assists to underline his all-round attacking influence for Nigeria.

Senegal’s talisman Sadio Mané follows closely with three assists, while Nigeria continues to dominate the assist charts through Alex Iwobi and Samuel Chukwueze, who have both contributed two assists each. Azzedine Ounahi (Morocco) and Anis Hadj-Moussa (Algeria) complete the list, also registering two assists apiece.

Players with the highest assists at AFCON 2025

Azzedine Ounahi (Morocco) – 2 assists

Anis Hadj-Moussa (Algeria) – 2 assists

With qualification spots still on the line and knockout football fast approaching, these goal scorers and playmakers are expected to play even bigger roles.

As AFCON 2025 enters its most critical phase, their boots and their vision could be the difference between an early exit and a march toward continental glory.

Afrobeats megastar Davido has sparked excitement online after unveiling the person currently inspiring him the most.

The singer shared a screenshot of a video call on his Instagram story, pairing it with the caption: “Woke up to my biggest inspiration.”

Davido Reveals the Person Inspiring Him Most

The image quickly stirred curiosity among fans, but the mystery didn’t last long. On the other end of the call was none other than Super Eagles forward Victor Osimhen, the football star whose recent exploits have reignited national pride.

Osimhen was Nigeria’s hero in yesterday’s World Cup qualifier against Gabon, where he netted a brilliant brace to keep the Super Eagles’ hopes for a place at the 2026 FIFA World Cup alive.

His performance dominated conversations across social media, with fans, pundits, and celebrities applauding his determination and class.

Davido’s public admiration adds yet another layer to Osimhen’s growing cross-industry influence, proving that his impact now stretches far beyond the football pitch.

As Afrobeats and Nigerian football continue to shape global conversations, this moment between two of the country’s biggest stars showcases a powerful blend of inspiration, pride, and mutual respect.

In other news, Davido recently took fans down memory lane with a heartfelt post reflecting on his humble beginnings and how far he’s come in his remarkable journey.

The Grammy-nominated artist reminisced about a defining moment back in 2011, when he skipped school just to perform in Ibadan, a move that, at the time, got him into serious trouble but ultimately became part of his origin story.

Sharing the story on X (formerly Twitter), Davido wrote:

“In 2011, I skipped school to perform in Ibadan. Asa, Peju, B Red and Sina picked me up from Babcock, and we drove to join the Lynxxx and Friends Tour. I had no idea it was going to air on Soundcity, and when my pops saw it, I got in so much trouble.

14 years later, we destroyed the stadium. The 5ive Alive run across Nigeria has been one for the books.”

Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen has opened up about his deep emotional connection to Olusosun, the Lagos community where he grew up, describing it as the place that moulded him into the man he is today.

The 26-year-old Nigerian forward, who continues to shine in Europe, said Olusosun holds a special place in his heart because it was there he learned some of life’s toughest but most valuable lessons.

He revealed that he makes it a point to visit the community every time he returns home to Nigeria, not out of nostalgia, but to express gratitude and inspire the younger generation.

“I came from a very poor background. I’m the lastborn of seven. I lost my mum at a very young age, and my father passed on in 2020,” Osimhen was quoted by UEFA’s website as saying after Galatasaray’s 3-0 win against Ajax in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday.

“Before I rose to fame, before I became someone important in life, my childhood was really tough because, as a young lad, I had to try to live for myself, to try to help my siblings also in raising money at that time, and to make sure that we all came together to help our father after his wife passed away.”

The Super Eagles star explained that although Olusosun didn’t offer him much materially, it taught him resilience, humility, and a strong sense of purpose, qualities that continue to guide him both on and off the pitch.

“Olusosun shaped me to become the kind of person I am today, and, as much as I wouldn’t say it gave me so much, it actually taught me life lessons that have helped me through life’s journey,” he said.

“So, for me, it’s really an amazing place; that’s the reason why any time I’m in Nigeria, I always go there to show gratitude, to show the young kids that if I could make it out of this place, I believe that you can.”

The Lagos-born footballer’s story from the dusty streets of Olusosun to the dazzling lights of Europe’s biggest stadiums continues to inspire millions of young Nigerians who see in him the proof that humble beginnings don’t define one’s future.

Super Eagles star Victor Osimhen is proving once again why he deserves a place among the world’s top three forwards after another electrifying performance in the UEFA Champions League.

The Nigerian striker stole the spotlight with a stunning hat trick against Ajax, edging closer to Cristiano Ronaldo’s record for most consecutive games with a goal in the competition. Osimhen has now found the back of the net in eight straight Champions League matches, just three shy of Ronaldo’s historic run.

Osimhen’s form in Europe this season has been nothing short of sensational. In Galatasaray’s 1-0 win over Liverpool in Istanbul, he coolly converted a penalty in the 16th minute, sending the goalkeeper the wrong way. That goal wasn’t just the match-winner — it also marked a historic milestone, as he became the first Nigerian player to reach double digits in Champions League goals, with 10 strikes to his name in the tournament proper.

Barely a week later, Osimhen continued his hot streak, scoring twice in a 3-1 victory over Bodø/Glimt. The result not only secured Galatasaray their first back-to-back Champions League wins in nearly ten years but also saw the 26-year-old break the club’s record for most consecutive European games with a goal.

With his relentless consistency, Osimhen has reignited Galatasaray’s European ambitions and sent a bold message to his critics — he is built for the biggest stages.

The Lagos-born striker has now cemented his place in Nigerian football history, becoming the country’s all-time top scorer in UEFA club competitions with 25 goals, surpassing Obafemi Martins’ tally of 23.

Currently, Osimhen sits atop the Champions League scoring chart with six goals, despite missing his team’s opening group game yet another testament to his class, hunger, and knack for rising to the occasion.

The Super Eagles striker reached the milestone dramatically on Tuesday night, September 30, 2025, when he coolly converted from the penalty spot to hand Galatasaray a 1–0 win over Liverpool in Istanbul.

The result not only gave the Turkish champions a famous victory but also condemned the Reds to back-to-back defeats across all competitions.

Osimhen’s achievement adds another feather to his already glittering cap. Known for his blistering pace, strength, and relentless eye for goal, the 26-year-old has terrorized Europe’s toughest defences and now sits alone at the top of Nigeria’s Champions League scorers’ chart.

Before Osimhen’s record-breaking strike, Obafemi Martins had held the benchmark with 9 goals from his days at Inter Milan and Wolfsburg.

Others who left their mark on Europe’s biggest stage include Yakubu Aiyegbeni (4 goals with Maccabi Haifa), Nwankwo Kanu (4 with Ajax and Arsenal), Finidi George (4 with Ajax), and Shola Ameobi (3 with Newcastle United).

For Galatasaray, Osimhen’s heroics are timely as they look to push further in the group stages, while for Nigerian football, his name is now firmly etched among the continent’s Champions League greats.

The 2025 summer transfer window will go down in history as one of the most dramatic and expensive periods football has ever seen.

Clubs across Europe splashed unprecedented sums, with total spending reaching a staggering €10.23 billion, a new record.

2025 Summer Transfer Window: Record-Breaking Deals In Football

Unsurprisingly, the Premier League once again dominated the headlines, accounting for more than €3.5 billion of that total.

No club captured attention quite like Liverpool. In what was described as a full-scale squad rebuild, the Reds secured Alexander Isak from Newcastle for a British record of £125 million, surpassing the fee Chelsea paid for Moisés Caicedo in 2023.

The Merseyside giants also added German star Florian Wirtz, striker Hugo Ekitiké, and flying full-back Jeremie Frimpong, making them the undisputed biggest spenders of the window. Despite earning €220 million from player sales, their net spend of €262 million was the second-highest across Europe.

If Liverpool dominated the headlines, Arsenal topped the financial charts. The Gunners invested heavily in attacking reinforcements, bringing in Viktor Gyökeres and Eberechi Eze, among others, while spending a total of €293.5m. With only €10.3m recouped in sales, they closed the window with the highest net spend of all clubs at €283.2m.

Manchester United also strengthened their front line, completing deals for Benjamin Šeško, Bryan Mbeumo, and Matheus Cunha. Chelsea, meanwhile, added João Pedro to their ranks but sanctioned a major outgoing as Nicolas Jackson joined Bayern Munich on a high-profile loan with an obligation to buy.

The Blues were once again Europe’s most successful sellers, generating €332m in player sales, over €100m more than any other club. Their standout departure was Noni Madueke, who sealed a €56m move to Arsenal.

The surprises weren’t limited to England. Liverpool captain Trent Alexander-Arnold left Anfield for Real Madrid, a move that stunned supporters and pundits alike. In Turkey, Victor Osimhen pulled off one of the most unexpected switches of the window, leaving Napoli for Galatasaray in a deal worth around €65m.

Meanwhile, newly promoted Sunderland made waves by spending €160m to bolster their squad. Their shopping list included striker Brian Brobbey and experienced midfielder Granit Xhaka, signaling serious intent to compete at the highest level.

The 2025 transfer market will be remembered not just for its eye-watering figures but for the boldness of the moves made. The three most expensive signings of the summer all belonged to Liverpool: Isak, Wirtz, and Ekitiké, underscoring the club’s ambition to remain at Europe’s summit.

Elsewhere, Arsenal’s financial gamble, Chelsea’s sales dominance, and the shock departures of household names like Alexander-Arnold and Osimhen highlighted the increasingly unpredictable nature of modern football.

As the dust settles, one thing is clear: the 2025/26 season is shaping up to be as dramatic on the pitch as it was off it.

Helmed by acclaimed director Pink, the visual was released on August 1, 2025, and produced under the banner of Eminent Music, the label behind Nasboi’s impressive rise.

The opening scenes of the video subtly reference the artist’s near-fatal accident in Bauchi State during his 36-state tour a nod to his perseverance in the face of adversity.

With the line “forward ever, never look back,” Nasboi sets the tone for a story of resilience and triumph, channeling his journey into an anthem that resonates with everyday Nigerians striving to overcome challenges.

Speaking on the visual, Dr. Wisdom Okoye, CEO of Eminent Music, said:

“Nasboi is a hugely talented star, and as a label, we are dedicated to putting him in the spotlight so the world can experience his creativity.”

Nasboi himself shared the inspiration behind the track:

“I just want people to know that with determination and hard work, they can achieve anything. But they should also remember to celebrate life, no matter how small the win is. We only live once.”

Since breaking into the scene in 2023 with a string of catchy hits, Nasboi has steadily climbed the ranks of Nigeria’s music elite.
