There’s fresh excitement in the air for fans of Adekunle Gold, as the singer, fondly known as AG Baby, has revealed plans to expand his recent body of work.

His album Fuji is set to get a deluxe treatment in 2026, and from the early details, it’s shaping up to be something special.

AG Baby Teases Something Big for 2026

Taking to announce the update, the Nigerian star confirmed that the deluxe edition will be released under the title Fuji Xtra, with a scheduled drop date of Friday, May 1, 2026. The news alone was enough to get fans talking, but it didn’t stop there.

What really stirred anticipation was the reveal of featured acts. The extended project will include appearances from heavyweight rapper Olamide, fast-rising talent Tml Vibez, and singer Simi—a lineup that promises a blend of different sounds and energies.

Fuji Xtra builds on the foundation laid by Fuji, a project that earned praise for how it merged traditional Fuji elements with modern influences like Afrobeats, R&B, and pop. It was another moment that showed Adekunle Gold’s strength in balancing cultural roots with contemporary appeal.

With this deluxe edition, listeners can expect more than just additional tracks. There’s a sense that AG Baby is looking to stretch the story further—adding new layers, new sounds, and fresh perspectives through his collaborators.

Each feature brings its own flavour too. Olamide could inject that raw, street-inspired edge, Tml Vibez offers a youthful, new-school bounce, while Simi’s presence hints at something smooth, emotional, and melodic.

As the countdown begins, Fuji Xtra already feels like more than a follow-up—it’s shaping up to be a fuller, richer continuation of a sound that’s still evolving.

Released on April 9, 2026, the track arrives as a continuation of Adekunle Gold’s evolving sound, one he has recently described as “Electro Fuji,” a fusion that blends the traditional rhythm patterns of Fuji music with the polished textures of modern Afrobeats.

The record sees both artists in sync, delivering a mid-tempo, groove-driven sound that carries elements of highlife while maintaining a contemporary edge. With a tempo of 127 BPM, “Formation” balances dancefloor energy with Fuji’s signature call-and-response style, creating a track that feels both rooted and forward-looking.

For Adekunle Gold, the collaboration represents more than just music it’s a full-circle moment years in the making. Having started his journey under Olamide’s mentorship, the singer explained that timing played a crucial role in finally bringing the collaboration to life.

“This song means a lot to me because it’s the first time Olamide and I have collaborated,” Gold said. “We always said the moment had to be right. ‘Formation’ felt like that moment. It represents the future of Fuji music.”

While the term “Electro Fuji” may not yet be a defined genre, it serves as a creative direction for Adekunle Gold, signaling his intention to modernize traditional sounds for a new generation of listeners.

The track’s message leans into self-assurance and staying focused, a theme that has already begun to resonate with fans across the continent. Olamide’s contribution adds depth without overpowering the record, complementing Adekunle Gold’s vision rather than overshadowing it.

As conversations around the future of indigenous sounds continue, “Formation” positions itself as both a cultural statement and a dance-ready offering—one that bridges legacy influences with contemporary appeal.

The upcoming single, titled “Formation,” is billed for release on Thursday, April 9, 2026, and already, anticipation is running high across the Afrobeats scene. For many fans, this isn’t just another drop—it’s a moment that has been years in the making.

Interestingly, despite Adekunle Gold rising to fame under Olamide’s YBNL Nation imprint back in 2015, both artists had never collaborated on a track. That long-standing gap has now been closed, turning “Formation” into what many are already describing as a symbolic full-circle moment.

Before stepping into the spotlight as a singer, Adekunle Gold had already built a reputation behind the scenes. Widely known at the time as the “King of Photoshop,” he worked as the official graphic designer for YBNL, crafting visuals—including the label’s iconic logo—that remain part of its identity today.

His transition from creative designer to music star came with the success of his breakout hit “Sade,” followed by his debut album Gold, released during his time with the label. Yet, even as his career flourished, a joint record with Olamide never materialized—until now.

Industry conversations around “Formation” suggest the track goes beyond music, reflecting years of mentorship, growth, and mutual respect between both acts. It also arrives at a strategic time, following Adekunle Gold’s ongoing “Eja Nla 2026” run, which signals a strong push for chart dominance this year.

Early hints about the song point to a blend of Adekunle Gold’s polished, pop-driven sound—similar to his Tequila Ever After era—and Olamide’s trademark street-hop delivery. While details remain tightly guarded, that combination alone has been enough to spark widespread excitement.

Across social media, reactions have been intense. Fans who remember the YBNL Mafia days are already hailing the collaboration as the “reunion of the decade,” as expectations continue to build ahead of its official release.

Controversial Nigerian singer Portable has taken to social media to accuse Olamide of being involved in attempts to “blacklist” him from the music industry.

The drama reportedly began on Monday when content creator Tunde Perry revealed that during a high-level meeting with industry stakeholders and international promoters, Portable’s conduct was a central point of discussion.

According to Perry, the consensus was that the singer’s unpredictable behaviour is negatively affecting opportunities for other emerging artists. He claimed that Olamide, long celebrated for supporting and mentoring young talent, has become cautious about offering guidance after dealing with Portable.

“Portable has affected a lot of upcoming artistes. Yesterday, I was in the midst of tight circle recently that involved industry moguls, international promoters and Portable’s matter was what they discussed,” Perry said.

“Olamide is kind and willing to help people, but Portable has blocked that access for talented singers from the trenches.”

Responding via Instagram, Portable dismissed the idea that any group of executives could control his career. He asserted that his rise is powered by his fanbase, not industry endorsements, and warned against using past collaborations as leverage.

“I am bigger than them. Who are those who want to blacklist? I heard that Tunde Perry said Olamide and his circle of music executives called for me to be blacklisted. Are you guys, my fans or my God? Are you feeding me?” he asked.

“I have my own fans. I am bigger than any person. Anyone who wants to help you, won’t stress you. Don’t use the assistance you gave me in the past to stress me. Are you the only one who has ever assisted me?

“There are a lot of people who helped me without stressing me. Why would you say they shouldn’t play my songs again? Olamide, don’t mess with me. If you mess with me, I will return the energy. Stay on your own lane.”

Portable also emphasized that his fame is entirely fan-driven and not a result of working with Olamide.

“Abi them tell you say Olamide Bado sign me for YBNL??? Zazuu Zeh My fans bring me here not them. We only do song together no be them blow me,” he wrote.

“The street belongs to me Portable Omolalomi 20 years my music don dey blow for street even before Dagrin die so una dey talk say na olamide bado help me he only join me put verse on my blowing song and we share money and fame no be say them buy me house or buy me car na me be ceo of my self zeh nation.”

This isn’t the first time Portable has publicly clashed with Olamide. The singer, who rose to prominence with his 2021 hit “Zazoo Zeh,” a collaboration with Olamide and dancer Poco Lee, previously accused his former collaborators of cheating him and withdrawing support after he demanded his rights. He also claimed that Olamide “will regret not signing me” to his label.

Portable’s latest remarks have once again reignited debates over loyalty, mentorship, and power dynamics in Nigeria’s music industry.

Controversial Nigerian singer Portable has stirred the music scene once again, this time aiming at his former benefactor, Olamide, in a fiery social media rant.

The singer accused the YBNL boss of actively sabotaging his career by instructing others not to play his songs.

Portable Fires at Olamide, Claims Former Mentor Is Blocking His Music

The outburst has left fans shocked, especially considering Olamide’s role in shaping Portable’s rise to fame. Many observers described the attack as a blatant act of ingratitude, warning that the singer may be burning one of the most important bridges in his career.

In the video, Portable questioned the true nature of his relationship with the rap legend, rejecting any notion of financial or personal support. According to him, their connection was strictly professional, and he accused Olamide of now acting out of spite.

”We join business ni now. Won ni se iya kan na lo bi wa ni now? Won ni se baba kan na lo bi wa? Owo de n so, enu n me’nu, ki n ko lo ko’pa? E ba l’e help mi mo,” Portable said, expressing bewilderment at why the man who once supported him would allegedly instruct others to stop playing his music.

The singer specifically referenced his breakout hit, emphasizing the perceived betrayal:

”Ki… What do you say about me? Why will you say they should don’t play my song? Orin to gbo, te gbo, Zazu te gbo, te fi wa f’enu si? Orin mi?”

Portable went further to challenge Olamide over claims of providing support, questioning whether the rapper ever gave him food, clothing, or housing, or even signed a formal contract.

”Bro, they know say… Se you signed me ni? Se e gbo pe boya e sign mi ni? Abi e fun mi l’onje ni? Abi e fun mi l’ata? Abi e fun mi l’epo? Abi boya e ra aso fun mi ni?” he declared.

He also painted a picture of self-reliance, likening himself to a lion hunting in the jungle, independent and untethered by past alliances:

”I am a lion. Mo de n l’ogbo, mo de n pa’je, mo n mu’je. Nkan to ba wu mi je, ohun de lo n wa’le wa. Eh, it’s good to be a lion in the jungle,” Portable said.

Concluding his rant, the singer warned critics and former associates to stop pursuing him, insisting that he would rather thrive independently than exist as a “stray dog” on the streets. Portable remains resolute that his talent and success are self-made, with his “glory coming from God.”

Each, he says, represents a different layer of his artistry, from global finesse to street-rooted authenticity and raw emotional expression.

In a candid interview on Yanga FM 89.9 Lagos, widely shared on social media, TML Vibez explained how these influences mirror his own evolving sound and identity.

The revelation also comes amid lingering fan tensions from TML Vibez’s past association with Seyi Vibez. The rising star initially gained prominence under Vibez Inc., Seyi Vibez’s imprint distributed through Dapper Music, dropping hits like “Goated” and “Where I’m From.” However, a messy split in 2025 fueled accusations of betrayal, with some fans branding TML a “Judas” for aligning more closely with Dapper after the separation.

Rumours about contract disputes, revenue disagreements, and blocked releases stirred heated debates online, fracturing the once-united NSNV (No Seyi No Vibez) fanbase.

Despite the drama, TML Vibez’s acknowledgement of his influences shows a grounded respect for the artists who paved the way, while signalling his intent to carve out a unique path in Afrobeats and street-pop.

It was a heartfelt moment at the Eko Convention Centre when legendary rapper Olamide Adedeji, popularly known as Olamide, paused mid-performance to honor fellow rapper Chibuzor Nelson, popularly known as Phyno, warmly calling him “my brother.”

The exchange captured the depth of their decade-long friendship and professional partnership. Turning to Phyno during the set, Olamide said, “my brother, my brother, Oremi atata,” prompting a visibly moved Phyno to respond, “my nigga, my nigga.”

Fans quickly shared clips of the touching moment across social media, with many praising the rarity of such a genuine, ego-free bond in Nigeria’s competitive music scene.

The YBNL boss and Phyno thrilled the audience with a high-energy set, performing hits from their extensive catalog. Their joint album 2 Kings and collaborations like “Ghost Mode” and “Fada Fada” have cemented their chemistry in the industry, and their synchronized performance reminded fans why their partnership has stood the test of time.

Olamide’s set took the crowd on a musical journey spanning his career. He first delivered his signature street-hop bangers, igniting the venue with infectious energy, before transitioning into soulful tracks from his latest project, IKIGAI, showcasing his versatility as an artist.

With headline performances from Flavour, Asake, and Davido anchoring the four-day event, Flytime Fest 2025 continues to be the heartbeat of Nigeria’s festive season. Celebrating its 21st anniversary this year, the festival has solidified its status as Africa’s premier indoor music event, blending star-studded performances with moments of genuine artistry and camaraderie.

Former United States President Barack Obama has once again shone a global spotlight on Nigerian music, naming Burna Boy and Olamide among the artists featured on his 2025 end-of-year music playlist.

Obama shared the playlist on X (formerly Twitter), continuing a tradition he began during his years in the White House. Over time, the annual list has grown into a cultural moment, offering fans a glimpse into the former president’s listening habits while encouraging people to explore new sounds and share recommendations.

On the 2025 list, Burna Boy earned a spot with Tatata, his collaboration with American rapper Travis Scott. The inclusion further reinforces Burna Boy’s standing as one of Africa’s most internationally recognised music stars, with his sound consistently crossing borders and genres.

Olamide also cut with 99, a track that features British singer Daecolm alongside Nigerian hitmakers Seyi Vibez, Asake, and Young Jonn. While Burna Boy and Olamide are the primary Nigerian artists credited on the playlist, the presence of multiple Nigerian collaborators highlights the depth and collective strength of the country’s music scene.

Obama’s yearly playlists are widely known for sparking online conversations and introducing audiences to a blend of established stars and rising talents from different parts of the world. Over the years, several Nigerian artistes have appeared on his lists, reflecting the steady global rise of Afrobeats and its growing influence beyond Africa.

According to Obama, the 2025 playlist is his way of rounding off the year by sharing some of the music that resonated with him over the past months. True to form, the selection cuts across multiple genres, including pop, soul, hip-hop, rock, jazz, and global sounds.

Beyond Nigerian music, the playlist features a diverse lineup of international artistes such as Olivia Dean (Nice to Each Other), Kendrick Lamar and SZA (Luther), BLACKPINK (Jump), Bruce Springsteen (Faithless), Lady Gaga (Abracadabra), Gunna (Just Say Dat), Chappell Roan (The Giver), Drake (Nokia), and Obongjayar (Not in Surrender), among others.

As has become tradition, Obama’s latest list not only reflects his wide-ranging musical taste but also underscores how African music—particularly from Nigeria—continues to find a place in global conversations.

As 2025 comes to a close, I’m continuing a tradition that I started during my time in the White House: sharing my annual lists of favorite books, movies, and music.

For more than a decade, Olamide Adedeji, rap icon, hitmaker, and the powerhouse behind YBNL, has carried two heavy crowns: one as a chart-topping artist and another as a relentless architect of new talent.

But now, for the first time in a long while, he’s letting the world in on a quiet transformation taking shape behind the scenes.

YBNL Boss Olamide Speaks About Personal Transformation

During a candid conversation on Flow 98.7 FM, Olamide spoke with a clarity that suggested deep reflection. He revealed that he has reached a point where he is intentionally stepping back from the constant grind of building others, choosing instead to finally pour that same energy inward.

“Right now, I’m at that phase in my life where I’m really trying to give myself undivided attention,” he shared—words that landed with unexpected weight for fans who have watched him tirelessly nurture rising acts while maintaining his own legendary run.

Olamide admitted that his journey has always been a delicate balancing act. He’s been the big brother, the mentor, the label boss, even while crafting his own legacy. “All my life I’ve been trying to be there for people and also trying to do my stuff. But right now, I’m really just trying to focus on myself 100 per cent,” he said.

It’s a striking shift from the man whose fingerprints are all over modern Nigerian music.

Through YBNL, he has ushered in an entire generation of stars—Lil Kesh, Young Jonn, Pheelz, Fireboy DML, Lyta, Asake, Adekunle Gold. And even beyond the label, his co-signs have turned once-unknown voices into household names. Zlatan, Naira Marley, Portable, and Bella Shmurda—they all felt the ripple of Olamide’s influence.

But this moment feels different. After years of being the engine that powered others forward, Olamide is stepping into a more introspective chapter—one marked by self-prioritisation, slow breathing, and a return to his own center.

It’s not a retreat—it’s a recalibration. And for an artist who has spent years shaping the soundscape of an entire culture, this next phase may be his most personal evolution yet.

The result is Unfinished Business, his third studio album, a 13-track journey that feels like stepping into a time capsule and finding the contents glowing brighter than you remember.

ID Cabasa Brings Back the Classics on “Unfinished Business” Album

For many Nigerians, ID Cabasa isn’t just a producer; he’s part of the country’s musical DNA. As the mastermind behind Coded Tunes, he helped shape the sound that birthed giants like Olamide, 9ice, and Reminisce.

Those mid-2000s years were the foundation of modern Afrobeats, and with Unfinished Business, Cabasa pulls from that era, “reimagining” his beloved hits with original voices and today’s brightest stars. He’s not simply dropping an album; he’s curating a moving, breathing museum of Nigerian music history.

At the heart of the project is “Photocopy Reimagined,” a reunion that feels almost cinematic. Hearing 9ice step back onto one of the most important records of his career, now dressed in a 2025 production glow, is goosebump material.

Vector joins him, weaving a verse that respects the original’s message of authenticity while flexing the layered wordplay he’s known for. Cabasa keeps the song’s gritty percussive spirit intact, but everything is sharpened, polished, and tuned for modern speakers. It feels like the “Alapomeji” spirit walked into the future and found its rhythm waiting.

Then there’s “Olufunmi Reimagined,” the track that feels like Cabasa threw a class reunion and a talent show into the same room. Styl-Plus’ iconic ballad is reborn through a powerhouse lineup: BOJ, Joeboy, Fireboy DML, and Odumodublvck.

The contrast is delicious, with Odumodu’s gritty, drill-tinted delivery bouncing off Joeboy’s softness, Fireboy’s emotional depth, and BOJ’s smooth Alté resonance. It shouldn’t work, but it does. Cabasa’s production gives each artist air to breathe, proving just how adaptable his sonic blueprint is.

But perhaps the clearest statement of the album’s purpose comes on “Bere Mi,” where Zlatan and T.I Blaze bring the street-hop energy of today onto a foundation built over a decade ago.

Cabasa uses the collaboration to make a quiet but powerful point: the new wave didn’t appear out of thin air; it grew from roots he helped plant. The album becomes both a reminder and a revelation, linking the past with the present through drums, melodies, and memory.

What makes Unfinished Business shine isn’t just nostalgia. It’s Cabasa’s understanding of his role. He’s not just flipping old records for sentiment; he’s orchestrating experiences. Every feature feels intentional. Every update feels like a respectful dialogue between eras.

The album is warm, cohesive, and carefully crafted the kind of project that makes older fans smile knowingly while giving younger listeners a front-row seat to a history lesson disguised as a playlist.

In the end, Unfinished Business proves a simple truth: great music never really fades. It only waits for the right moment and the right hands to be reintroduced. And for Cabasa, “unfinished” doesn’t mean incomplete. It means the story is far from over.
