Liverpool’s nightmare run went from bad to worse at Anfield as they were ripped apart 4–1 by a ruthless PSV side, leaving the home fans stunned and the pressure on Arne Slot reaching boiling point.

What was supposed to be a chance to steady the ship became another chapter in Liverpool’s spiralling form. After back-to-back 3–0 defeats, supporters hoped the Reds would react; instead, they watched their team collapse again, this time in front of their own crowd.

With the club sinking into the bottom half of the Premier League and now wobbling in Europe, the alarm bells have never been louder.

The evening started horribly. Barely had the dust settled when Liverpool conceded their seventh unanswered goal in recent matches.

Ivan Perisic stepped up to bury a penalty after a handball call against Virgil van Dijk, a decision the captain protested passionately, though replays showed his arm was clearly in the wrong place.

Liverpool did manage a response. Dominik Szoboszlai, operating in midfield while Curtis Jones filled in at right-back, pounced on a rebound after Cody Gakpo’s strike was parried.

Van Dijk almost flipped the game on its head moments later, rattling the crossbar with a powerful header as the home side briefly looked alive again.

But whatever hope Liverpool had evaporated after the break.

Defensive errors The recurring theme of Slot’s struggling team offered PSV all the space they needed. Guus Til beat Milos Kerkez to a loose ball to restore the Dutch side’s lead, and soon after, a costly mistake from Ibrahima Konaté gifted PSV a third.

From there, the floodgates opened. Rising star Couhaib Driouech struck twice, first reacting quickest when Ricardo Pepi’s effort bounced off the post, then finishing calmly for his second sending Liverpool fans heading for the exits long before the final whistle.

The 4–1 humiliation means Liverpool have now lost nine of their last 12 matches, their worst run in more than 70 years. A club known for its fighting spirit and resilience now looks completely unrecognizable.

Simply put, Liverpool are in disarray and Arne Slot has a storm on his hands.
