Afrobeat musician Seun Kuti has openly criticized Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo, accusing her of politicizing the tragic death of music artist Mohbad.

“I don’t do personal things because I can’t stand it,” Kuti stated. “You people politicized Mohbad’s death. I don’t believe you did it to find justice for him. I believe it’s just a movement against Naira Marley. Nobody can tell me otherwise.”

Seun Kuti also questioned the validity of government findings regarding Mohbad’s cause of death, highlighting conflicting reports. “Do you accept the government’s findings? According to a letter released by Naira Marley’s legal team on December 13, the singer, who is also the owner of the Marlian record label, claims that Iyabo Ojo disseminated false and damaging content about him on her Instagram page.

The legal document states that in a September 2023 post, Iyabo Ojo accused Naira Marley of both spiritual and physical involvement with the late Ilerioluwa Aloba Mohbad. The letter further asserts that Iyabo accused Naira Marley of causing mental harm to Mohbad, whom he referred to as a brother.
