His response, however, sparked outrage after he reacted angrily to derogatory remarks directed at the Igbo community, including calls for them to leave Lagos.

In the heat of the exchange, iLLBliss fired back with a statement that many online users described as inflammatory, saying: “We bought all your land and will resell to you.”

Following the backlash, the rapper has now expressed regret over his choice of words, admitting that his reaction was excessive and not reflective of his intentions.

In his apology, he said:

“I apologise if you found my comments brash. It wasn’t intended to tarnish Lagos, a state that has accommodated us all and supported our art, our business and our growth for many years,” he stated.

Illbliss also explained that his reaction was fueled by what he described as repeated hostility towards Igbos whenever conversations about their contributions to development outside the South-East arise. He noted that such exchanges often become emotionally charged, leading to misunderstandings and escalated responses.

Despite the controversy, the rapper emphasised that Lagos remains a shared home for many Nigerians, including members of the Igbo community, and should continue to be treated as such.

Speaking during a recent episode of The Real Shareholders podcast, the respected lyricist painted a sobering picture of the country’s current state, highlighting how mechanisms of control have evolved beyond traditional media to permeate digital platforms.

“Nigeria is in one of the most dangerous periods in its history,” Illbliss said, citing the deliberate suppression of conscious music and critical commentary. He revealed that his 2020 protest track Country was removed from radio playlists due to its politically charged message.

“Before Country, I had songs like A Different Kind of War and National Cake. But OAPs (On-Air Personalities) would tell me they couldn’t play them because it could attract fines,” he disclosed, underscoring long-standing censorship in mainstream media.

According to Illbliss, this form of silencing has now shifted to digital spaces, where organized backlash and coordinated campaigns are increasingly used to stifle dissent.

“You drop a record and suddenly get hit with over a hundred tweets saying, ‘Why are you mocking the country? It’s not that bad.’ You can tell it’s coordinated. That’s digital propaganda,” he asserted.

He accused the government of subtly infiltrating social media spaces to influence narratives, using online influencers, sponsored podcasts, and comment brigades to drown out criticism and promote curated images of progress, often in contrast to the lived realities of ordinary Nigerians.

“We thought social media was our safe space for activism,” Illbliss said. “But now you have to wonder — has the government started funding distractions? Have they gotten more sophisticated than we thought?”

In his closing remarks, the Goretti Company boss urged Nigerians to remain vigilant and discerning, warning that the boundary between authentic civic discourse and manufactured digital propaganda is becoming increasingly blurred.

Illbliss revealed that prior to his foray into music, he had a successful career in banking, showcasing his versatility and expertise in multiple fields.

Nigerian rapper, iLLBliss has shared how he got himself ready for the role of Odogwu Malay in the popular Nigerian movie franchise, “King of Boys”

iLLBliss made his acting debut in the Kemi Adetiba-directed movie and its sequel series playing the role of the Odogwu Malay a gangster.

The rapper in an interview opened up on what he did to get himself ready for the role. According to the rapper, he had to sit down with traders at Amuwo Odofin in Lagos.

He stated that he had to start copying their lifestyle, dressings and mannerism. The businessmen who he sat down with trolled him for being more of a Lagos boy than an Igbo one.

iLLBliss disclosed that getting to hang out with them helped made him understand their lifestyle and why they choose their nickname.

“When I made KOB, I had to go sit down with the traders, sat down with the boys, boys that live in greenfield estate, on that apple junction road. Those guys sit down and blow millions at one sitting wearing slippers. Like they have shops in Alaba, they have shops everywhere. I had to adapt their lifestyle, I had to start dressing like them.”

Speaking about how playing Odogwu Malay had changed him and the reviews he got back from fans, the rapper stated that the role was a different ball game for him and has attracted a lot of questions from fans.

He said that he got calls from fans in Malaysia and Indonesia complaining of the death of his character in the KOB sequel series.

Empire Mates State of Mind -EME All Stars

No record label in 2012 was fulfilled until it released a compilation album. Banky W released Empire Mates State of Mind for his label, Empire Mates, after Don Jazzy arrived with Solar Plexus. Hit songs including Get Down Tonight, Dance For Me, Roll It, and Baddest Boy were featured on the album.

Oga Boss – IllBliss

In 2012, IllBliss struck the ideal balance between expansive choruses and clever wordplay in his lyrics, resulting in a sophomore album that appeals to both hip-hop fans and the crucial pop charts.

Brymo’s “Son of a Kapenta” is a contemporary pop master lesson and essential listening for anyone intending to pursue a career as a vocalist, from the unsteady but intriguing first act through the vice-tightening and dreamily imaginative second act and down to the just magnificent finale.

Nigerian rapper, iLLBliss has recounted how he worked different menial jobs in the UK including working as a janitor in a school for kids with down syndrome.

iLLBliss was a guest on Chude Jidenowo’s podcast “With Chude,” and he didn’t hold back.

The renowned rapper, who has been steady in the music industry for several years, opened up about his work, marriage, and other personal matters.

IllBliss, who made his Nollywood debut in Kemi Adetiba’s ‘King of Boys,‘ where he played Odogwu Malay, discussed his career as a rapper in excerpts from his interview with Chude.

He explained that before he started rapping, he was already a banker who was methodically working his way up the corporate ladder. He’d leave his office to go to radio stations for interviews, where he’d have to change from his business clothing to Hiphop attire.

He also talked of travelling to London, where he ended up residing for two years instead of two months and having to work four jobs to keep his body and spirit together, including one as an industrial cleaner at a coffee shop and another as a janitor at a special needs school.

In his words;

“So I went to the UK for about 2 years. It was supposed to be for 2 months and I ended up staying for 2 years. I got to England and I couldn’t work, now that I knew, of course, I got a student visa. And then, the grind started. At some point I couldn’t pay the rent. At another point, I’d have to live at Shepherds bush on one day and at Canning town the next day; I was just changing my location and just moving with my friends.

I have done everything. I’ve worked in a coffee shop and as an industrial cleaner. At a point, I had like 4 jobs concurrently.

I was working in the coffee factory, doing industrial cleaning and hygiene. Then I was working with a school for kids with Down Syndrome, cleaning the school every morning for 3 hours”

IllBliss also discussed the benefits of marrying your best friend while sharing his and his wife’s waiting story.

He explained that they married in 2009 but had to wait eight years to have their first child.

Nigerian rapper, actor, and businessman Tobechukwu Ejiofor, popularly known by his stage name iLLBliss, has revealed how he and his wife battled childlessness for eight years.

The actor, who is most known for his role as Odogwu Malay in the film ‘King of Boys,’ remarked that the eight-year span seemed incomplete for him and his wife, Munachiso.

He made this when speaking with media personality, Chude Jideonwo, who shared a clip of the interview on Sunday.

The rapper said that he had to wait eight years to welcome his first daughter, Sochikaima, and described that time as “incomplete.”

He said:

“It was incomplete. This is why you must marry your friend. My wife’s name is Munachiso and it means I work with God and my God is always by my side. Sometimes she’ll be like, ‘Babe why are we not panicking? Why are we not having anxiety about children?’.

“It was a long wait. I got married in 2009 and I knew I was doing the honorable thing. The plan was to get married, raise a family promptly and take care of all of them.

Illbliss said that people tried to make him and his wife anxious by trying to introduce them to preachers.

But according to him, he and his wife decided to stay with God and later thought of adopting a child.

He said:

“We were happy. We weren’t even saying our rosary let alone having to run around for things but we stayed with God.

”I’ll be honest with you, at some point, we decided to adopt. We said we would take somebody’s child and raise at least show them so much love and as soon as we had spoken about that, wifey took in like two months after then.”

The rapper noted that he and his wife were so excited when the doctor broke the news of the pregnancy to them.

The rapper said:

“Then our daughter came and we called her Sochikaima which means it’s only our God that we know. God did it for us”.
