Nigerian superstar Asake has released a documentary chronicling his journey to fame and rise in the music industry.

Since his breakout into the mainstream in 2022, Asake has skyrocketed to superstardom with a consistent flow of chart-topping singles and critically acclaimed albums.

Following his recent achievement of selling out the O2 Arena in London for the second time, Asake shared the much-anticipated documentary on September 23, 2024, via his Instagram page.

The documentary, narrated by the award-winning British actor Idris Elba, opens with scenes from the inner-city areas of Lagos, where Asake grew up, offering fans an intimate glimpse into his humble beginnings.

This documentary arrives on the heels of Asake’s latest album, “Lungu Boy,” which features global superstars like Wizkid, Stormzy, Central Cee, and Ludmila.

The title “Lungu Boy,” which loosely translates to “ghetto boy,” reflects Asake’s personal narrative of rising from the streets of Lagos to international stardom.

The documentary seems to offer further insight into his transformation, giving context to his journey from obscurity to becoming a household name in Afrobeats.

At his latest O2 Arena performance, Asake was honoured with an O2 Arena sold-out plaque and a BRIT silver plaque for his album ‘Work Of Art,’ which was presented to him by Idris Elba himself.

This marks his second album to receive a BRIT silver certification, following his debut project “Mr. Money With The Vibes,” which also achieved similar recognition in the UK.

Asake has found extraordinary success in the UK, where all three of his albums have reached the top of the UK Apple Music Album Chart.

This accomplishment makes him the only Nigerian artist to have all his LPs hit No. 1 in the UK, cementing his position as a global Afrobeats sensation.

British-Nigerian artist Skepta’s latest single, “Jangrova,” has made an impressive debut at No. 28 on Turntable’s Nigeria Top 100 chart. The song features hip-hop artist Odumodublvck and British actor/rapper Idris Elba.

“Jangrova” is part of Skepta’s directorial debut for the film “Tribal Mark,” which premiered on January 26, 2024. The movie explores the poignant journey of a Nigerian immigrant adapting to life in a foreign country and incorporates elements of an undercover Black Secret Service. The cast includes emerging black actors, with Jude Carmichael playing the protagonist, Young Mark.

Alongside the single’s success, Skepta revealed that his sixth studio album, titled “Knife and Fork,” is set to be released in 2024, marking his first full-length album since 2019. With the imminent release of his debut movie, “Tribal Mark,” UK-Nigerian rapper Skepta is gearing up to release the accompanying soundtrack, titled “Jangrova.”

This musical piece slated for release this Friday will showcase the talents of acclaimed actor Idris Elba and Nigeria’s buzzing rapper, Odumodublvck. Skepta offered a sneak peek of the track on his Instagram stories, a preview that was also shared on Odumodublvck’s X page.

Providing insight into “Tribal Mark,” Skepta describes it as a narrative following the journey of a Nigerian immigrant navigating life in a foreign land.

The film serves as an introduction to the clandestine world of an undercover Black Secret Service. Notably, the cast boasts a diverse array of up-and-coming Black actors, with the movie’s central character, Young Mark, portrayed by Jude Carmichael.

A limited 5,000 copies, of the Fela Kuti’s project will be curated in its Boxset 6 edition by American actor, DJ, and singer, Idris Elba.

Box Set #6 is the latest installment in the ongoing series of expansive box set reissues of the beloved back catalog of Afrobeat pioneer Fela Kuti. Following on from previous editions curated by the likes of Chris Martin, Erykah Badu, Ginger Baker, Brian Eno and Questlove, the latest box set in the series comes compiled by actor, producer, DJ, rapper and singer Idris Elba, aka Big Driis.

Limited to 5000 copies, the set features artwork for each album meticulously recreated from the original vinyl pressings – alongside vintage vinyl label artwork – as well as 24-page booklet featuring lyrics, commentaries on each record by noted Afrobeat historian Chris May, never-before-seen photos and an introduction from Elba.

All sets come accompanied by a special 16″ x 24″ poster designed by Lemi Ghariokwu, the creative force behind many of Fela’s seminal album covers.

According to a report by HotnewHiphop, Idris Elba opened up on what fans should expect from him and his collaboration with Davido and rapper, Megan Thee Stallion.

While speaking with MistaJam on CapitalFM’s The All-New Capital Weekender, the actor spoke on how he has been spending his quarantine.

“I’m doing more music, Jam you know what it’s like, I’m trying to stay with it when we’re not gigging now,” said the actor.

“So I’ve got some really cool music coming, been working with Franky Wah on a tune I’m looking forward to droppin’.

According to Wikipedia, The O2 Arena is a multi-purpose indoor arena in the center of The O2 entertainment complex on the Greenwich Peninsula in southeast London. It opened in its present form in 2007.

It has the second-highest seating capacity of any indoor venue in the United Kingdom, behind the Manchester Arena, and in 2008 was the world’s busiest music arena.

However, there is another hall in the O2 arena known as the Indigo arena which has a smaller carrying capacity of 3000.

In 2019, Davido sold out his first personal show in O2 becoming the second Nigerian artist to do that. He had a year earlier predicted he would do that and which he did.

In an Instagram live video, she had recently, Cardi B shared her thoughts on Coronavirus and the ‘Money’ singer was pissed about the whole issue.

Celebrities who have tested positive for the virus include Idris Elba, his wife Sabrina Dhowre, Tom Hanks, his wife Rita Wilson and Brooklyn Nets star, Kevin Durant.

The mother of one also added that if celebrities are being paid to say they have Coronavirus, she also would love to get paid as she is looking to get paid.

In the video, Cardi B also said she wants the situation to end as she intends on getting liposuction and told her fans that she loves getting plastic surgery.

She also said she misses her husband but she needs to finish up the music she was recording.
