Nigerian Afrobeat singer Oludipe Oluwasanmi David aka Spyro has revealed that he is not a new cat in the music industry.

He dispelled the myth that he was a novice by pointing out that he had been in the industry longer than most of the popular Nigerian performers.

Spyro claimed that before Dagrin subsequently switched from rap music to singing, his goal was to succeed him.

He admitted that back in 2010, when he was still a rapper going by the name “Freeze,” he collaborated on a song with Tiwa Savage.

The ‘Who’s Your Guy‘ hitmaker continued by recalling how, in 2014, he also worked with the late Sound Sultan.

He wrote; “It is funny how a lot of pple think I am a new cat *lol I have been here way before most of your favs… but as the Bible says 4 “the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favour to men of skill; but time and chance happeneth to them all.”

Spyro shared a clip and art cover of his throwback songs, with the caption “that was me rapping right after Tiwa savage in the 2nd slide when my name was “FREEZE” my plan then was to take over from DAGREEN 🤦🏾‍♂️and that was 2010 ,I doubt @tiwasavage can even remember that day 😂 but look at God ,he brought time back for me with the same @tiwasavage #WOW and then I transitioned to spyrophreeze and recorded more songs..

Indigenous Nigerian artist, Olanipekun Olatubosun, who is popularly known as Trod, has responded to allegations of misappropriating royalties associated with the songs of the late rapper, Dagrin.

Recently, Dagrin’s mother reached out to Nigerians for financial assistance, revealing in a viral video that she now sells items on the street to make a living.

Following the circulation of the video, Nigerians criticized Trod, who happens to be Dagrin’s step-brother, accusing him of benefiting from the proceeds of Dagrin’s songs while his own family struggled.

In a response to these allegations on his official Twitter account, Trod stated that he has no knowledge of any income related to Dagrin’s songs. He called on anyone who has been receiving royalties from the late rapper’s music to come forward.

In a tweet, he said: “I dunno shit about Grins Royalties. The person who has been getting paid for 13 years should come out. DMCE whatever.”

It should be noted that Dagrin passed away on April 22, 2010, following a tragic car accident in Lagos.

The late rapper Dagrin’s mother has begged Nigerians for assistance, saying that she has been struggling ever since her son’s tragic passing.

In a video that has gone viral online, the elderly woman claimed that she sells food by the side of the road, but that the labour is difficult for her due to her old age and that the money she makes is insufficient to maintain her family.

She added that she frequently relocates while seeking to maintain herself because some people know her as the late rap star’s mother.

The unhappy mother stated that she had been told to contact Davido or Olamide, two of Nigeria’s biggest musicians, for assistance, but she refused to do so because she saw them as her own children.

She pleaded with well-meaning Nigerians to make her life better. She explained that since she now lives with her sister, she needs a separate place to live.

Oladapo Olaitan Olaonipekun, also known as DaGrin, has been listed as wanted in Sierra Leone twelve years after his traumatic death.

Mp3bulllet.ng recounts that the Nigerian music industry lost a young, very talented star, Dagrin, in an automobile accident.

His car was involved in a collision with a stalled trailer (heavy-duty vehicle) in front of Alakara Police Station, off Agege Motor Road, Mushin, Lagos.

Dagrin, who was 26 years old as of then, passed away at the Lagos State Teaching Hospital, LUTH, on Thursday, April 22, 2010, at precisely 6 of clock in the evening. On Friday, April 30, 2010, he was laid to rest at the Ebony Millennium Private Vault in the Atan Cemetery.

According to reports making the rounds on social media, DaGrin’s photo was included by the Sierra Leonean police on their wanted list for people who recently participated in a violent protest in their country.

DaGrin’s popular photo of him carrying a gun was spotted among the clusters of photos of wanted people.

The song’s theme is Nollywood-like with the suspicion that Iya Basira might actually be using juju to hold her customers.

While he was still in elementary school, he became influenced by rap songs by American artists which he listened via his father’s audio cassette player.

He admired these artists and started composing rap songs whenever he felt inspired to do so.

However, with the rise of indigenous rap artists like Lord Of Ajasa, Dagrin, Danny Young, Olamide, QDot, CDQ, he decided to switch to Yoruba rap, and he was motivated to become a professional musician.
