Nigerian singer and songwriter Joseph Akinwale Akinfenwa-Donus, known professionally as Joeboy, has opened up on his decision to represent Nigeria at the YouTube Music Foundry Class of 2022.

During the week, 30 independent artists representing 15 countries from across the globe were announced by YouTube music as members of the Foundry Class of 2022.

The class also featured 29 other artists at all stages of their careers from different genres including Ghana’s Black Sherif.

Speaking on his reason for his representation, Joeboy said,

“Being an independent artist simply requires me to be at the centre of all of my dealings as a creative. Aside from creating the music, I have to carry out due diligence to make sure I am making the right decisions now and then.”

SSA YouTube Music Lead, Addy Awofisayo shared,

“We believe that lowering the barrier to entry that unlocks opportunities for music artists to create and connect with a global audience is crucial. But beyond that, Foundry will assist the music artists participants in navigating a new increasingly digital industry as they connect with fans and generate revenue.”

According to Awofisayo, the Foundry program is designed to help artists establish long-lasting careers on their own. Since its inception in 2015, it has helped 250 independent artists.

Glastonbury Festival has announced the full 2022 lineup, which includes headliners AJ Tracey, Yungblud, Sea Girls, and others, as well as announcing the stage times for this year’s festival.

AJ Tracey, Jamie T, Kae Tempest, Yungblud, Little Dragon, Pa Salieu, Ziggy Marley, Sea Girls, and The Libertines are among the new Glastonbury 2022 artists who will perform at the renowned festival’s 50th anniversary.

The new listed artist for the 50th anniversary of the Glastonbury festival will perform alongside Billie Eilish, Kendrick Lamar, Megan Thee Stallion, Glass Animals, Burna Boy, Olivia Rodrigo, Girl in Red, Arlo Parks, Big Thief, IDLES, Joy Crookes, Tems and many more.

The event will return to Worthy Farm from 22-26 June, and the stage schedules for Glastonbury 2022 have been set, with Ziggy Marley opening the Pyramid Stage on Friday at 12:15 p.m.

The Libertines will kick off the other stage on Friday at 11:30 am, while the West Holts Stage will launch on the same day at 11:30 with Nubiyan Twist.

English Teacher will open the John Peel Stage at 11:30 on Friday, and The Park Stage will launch with Matilda Mann at the same time.

Diana Ross will perform on the Pyramid Stage on Sunday at 4 pm, and AJ Tracey, Joy Crookes, Easy Life, and Wolf Alice will also perform on the festival’s renowned stage throughout the weekend.

Nigerian Afrobeat superstar, Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu, known professionally as Burna Boy, has achieved another milestone in his career on the international scene at the BandLab NME Awards 2022.

The Grammy award-winning artist has added another feather to his international cap after receiving a top category award at the BandLab NME Awards 2022, which took place on Wednesday, March 2, 2022, at the 02 Academy Brixton in London.

Despite the fact that the “Kilometre” crooner was not physically present at the ceremony, his acceptance speech was broadcast.

Dave, whose real name is David Orobosa Omoregie, has the most nominations for the 2021 MOBO Awards.

The 23-year-old rapper was nominated for the prestigious accolade in five categories, including Album, Song, and Video of the Year, as well as Best Male Act and Best Hip-Hop Act.

Ghetts, Little Simz, and Arlo Parks lead 3 nominations each on the list.

The MOBO Awards are a British awards show that honours accomplishments in “music of African origin.”

The show honours the best of the best in Hip-Hop, Grime, R&B, Soul, Reggae, Jazz, Gospel, and African music.

The event will take place on Sunday, December 5th, 2021, at Coventry’s CBS Arena.

Wizkid and Rema, both Nigerian singers, were nominated in the Best International Act category, alongside Drake, Kanye West, Lil Nas X, and Megan Thee Stallion.
