AFCON 2023: Official squad numbers for Super Eagles players confirmed
The official squad numbers for Nigeria’s 25-man roster in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) have been unveiled, offering insights into the team’s composition for the tournament.
Francis Uzoho has been assigned the prestigious No. 1 shirt, strongly suggesting his role as the primary goalkeeper during the competition. Napoli striker Victor Osimhen, a key player, will be donning the No. 9 shirt, in line with expectations.
The list continues with Ahmed Musa securing no. 7, Joe Aribo claiming the no. 10 jersey, Victor Boniface opting for no. 24, Alex Iwobi sporting no. 17, Kelechi Iheanacho proudly displaying no. 14, and Samuel Chukwueze choosing no. 11.
Under the management of Jose Peseiro, the Nigerian squad is set to make its 20th appearance at the AFCON finals. Placed in Group A, alongside hosts Ivory Coast, Equatorial Guinea, and Guinea-Bissau, the Super Eagles are gearing up for a challenging campaign.
