Stonebwoy wins Best African Dancehall Award at the IRWMA
Ghanaian sensation Stonebwoy clinched the coveted title of Best African Dancehall Entertainer at the 2024 International Reggae and World Music Awards (IRWMA).
The 41st edition of the IRWMA took place at the Lauderhill Performing Arts Center in Fort Lauderdale on March 22nd, 2024. This milestone event not only honored exceptional talent but also underscored the importance of health awareness.
Additionally, Nigerian superstar Wizkid emerged victorious in the Best Afrobeat Entertainer category, while Burna Boy seized three prestigious awards. Burna Boy triumphed in the categories of Best African Entertainer, Best Music Video, and Best Crossover Song for “Talibans II.” Furthermore, Seun Paul secured the esteemed Emperor of Reggae & World Music accolade.

Stonebwoy took the spotlight as the guest star on this week’s edition of African Voices Changemakers by CNN.
Livingstone Etse Satekla, widely known as Stonebwoy, was featured on the program, created by Cable News Network (CNN), with sponsorship from the telecommunications giant Globacom.
Hosted by Larry Madowo, the 30-minute program provided an in-depth exploration of Stonebwoy’s accomplishments and his influence across the African continent through his music, which seamlessly fuses Afropop, dancehall, and reggae genres.
Stonebwoy emphasized his use of music as a storytelling medium and highlighted the diverse blend of sound genres present in his musical repertoire. His appearance on African Voices Changemakers showcased his significant impact on the music industry and his role as a cultural influencer in Africa.
During the interview, Stonebwoy said, “I think this is the calling so anytime I am able to perform and reach out to the masses I’m always grateful. Music has always been there before anything. The styles of music from Reggae to dancehall music to African music. I came up into the game trying to unite the sounds. So when you pick up a typical Stonebwoy record you have a feel of afro dancehall reggae music”
