Raheem Sterling apologises for penalty miss after being booed during Chelsea’s FA Cup win over Leicester
Raheem Sterling issued a heartfelt apology to Chelsea supporters following his missed penalty in their FA Cup quarter-final match against Leicester on Sunday.
During the game, with Chelsea holding a 1-0 lead, the winger had an opportunity to extend their advantage when he stepped up to take a penalty after 26 minutes. Despite the disappointment of the miss, Sterling managed to redeem himself by providing an assist for Cole Palmer’s goal towards the end of the first half.
Although Leicester managed to equalize after halftime, Chelsea ultimately secured victory with two late goals, securing their place in the semi-finals.
Despite his contribution to the team’s success, Sterling took responsibility for the missed penalty and expressed his regret to the Chelsea supporters.
Despite the win, Sterling took to Instagram to express his regret to the club’s fans, writing: “To all the Chelsea fans, apologies for the penalty miss. I’ll be back 10x times stronger to help the team win and continue to keep fighting for the badge every single day.”

The Stamford Bridge side has successfully advanced to the semi-finals of the competition, but they face a formidable challenge ahead as they aim to overcome reigning champions Manchester City for a spot in the final. Meanwhile, Manchester United’s next hurdle will be Coventry in the other semi-final matchup.
Raheem Sterling will have some time off as he was omitted from the England squad for the upcoming international friendlies against Brazil and Belgium. His next appearance will be on March 30th, when Chelsea welcomes relegation candidates Burnley to Stamford Bridge.
