Singer Spyro describes his spec as a ‘Jesus baddie’
Nigerian artist Spyro has revealed that his ideal woman is what he describes as a “Jesus baddie.” During an interview with Hip TV, the “Only Fine Girl” hitmaker shared his preferences, emphasizing that he appreciates women who embody qualities associated with being a “baddie” but with a commitment to their faith.
In the context of Spyro’s statement, a “Jesus baddie” appears to be a woman who combines a strong, independent, and attractive demeanor, often associated with the term “baddie,” with a commitment to her Christian beliefs.
Spyro suggested that he likes women who exude confidence and independence but channel those qualities in a way that aligns with their faith, particularly in the context of a relationship.
“My spec is a Jesus baddie. That’s my spec. Know God, but be a baddie,” he began in between laughter. “For example, because you’re a Christian or because you know God or because you’re a muslim sister does not mean that you should be mediocre in whatever you do. So I mean dress well, speak well, you know. Do those things that bad girls do, but do it for your husband alone,” he continued.
In December 2023, Spyro faced criticism from some Christians after he was observed singing during a carol service at his local church. Critics argued that, as he was not a gospel singer, he should not have performed in a church setting.
Responding to the backlash in an interview, Spyro defended his decision, stating that he had no intentions of changing. He emphasized a distinction by stating that the opposite of “gospel music” is not “secular” but rather “carnal” music.
He said: “In anything you do in life, you will always get criticised. And we just have to take a stance. It’s either you are hot or you are cold. It’s either you are for God or you are not for God. I’ve always known even before now that I’m going to get criticised for what I stand for. But it doesn’t mean it’s going to change. I’m a Christian and I make music. I’m an Afrobeats singer and a lover of God.”
