Spotify unveils Nigerian songs with the biggest global streams for 2024

Spotify has officially confirmed the biggest Nigerian songs of 2024 on the global stage, as Afrobeats continues to assert its dominance in the music scene.

Spotify has unveiled its Global Impact List in Nigeria, highlighting the top 30 Nigerian tracks with the biggest worldwide impact on the digital streaming platform during the first half of 2024. The list features Nigerian songs that received the highest number of streams from outside Nigeria between January 1 and June 30, 2024.

Female artists, particularly Ayra Starr and Tems, dominate the top ranks with hits from their recent album releases. The list also underscores the prominence of international collaborations, with eight of the top ten tracks involving global superstars. These partnerships, including Pheelz with Usher and Burna Boy with 21 Savage and Metro Boomin, showcase the cross-cultural appeal and growing global influence of Nigerian music.

Phiona Okumu, Spotify’s Head of Music for Sub-Saharan Africa, commented, “Nigerian music, especially Afrobeats, has captivated global audiences with its infectious rhythms, compelling storytelling, and innovative sound fusions. Its ability to transcend cultural and geographical boundaries is truly remarkable. At Spotify, we are thrilled to witness and support the continued evolution of this vibrant scene.”

Below is a list of the top 30 Nigerian songs with the highest global streaming numbers in the first half of 2024:
