Spotify celebrates Wizkid’s “Ojuelegba” 10-years anniversary with beautiful storytelling
Spotify marked the 10th anniversary of Wizkid’s iconic hit “Ojuelegba” with a captivating celebration, highlighting the song’s profound cultural impact and the journey it has inspired.
Through a series of storytelling initiatives, the global music platform honoured the track, reflecting on its importance in Wizkid’s career and its role in Afrobeat’s rise on the international stage.
“Ojuelegba,” from Wizkid’s 2014 album Ayo, is named after a bustling neighborhood in Lagos, Nigeria, and narrates the artist’s struggles and rise to global fame.
The song gained significant airplay across major Nigerian radio stations and topped Capital Xtra’s Afrobeats Chart in February 2015. Its remix, featuring Canadian rapper Drake and English grime artist Skepta, debuted on OVO Sound Radio in July 2015, further propelling its international acclaim.
The song was also ranked 12th on The Fader’s list of the 107 Best Songs of 2015.
