Entertainers others joined politics because of me – Speed Darlington.
US-based Nigerian singer and rapper, Darlington Okoye popularly known as Speed Darlington, has said many entertainers developed an interest in politics because of him.
He stated that since he revealed his intention to run for president, people like Tonto Dikeh, Mercy Johnson’s husband, Prince Okojie, and Regina Daniels, along with her husband, have become more politically involved.
In an online video, he stated that he does not know if they are attempting to copy him, but he is perplexed by the concept of everyone wanting to be a politician.

In an interview on the Be Grounded podcast, Speed Darlington joins Bond to discuss the growth of Afrobeats in America
Akpi as Speed is fondly called, also shared his thoughts on some Nigerian artists like Tems, Zlatan, Flavour, and Phyno.
He also spoke about his use of social media and future plans for his music.
The interviewer enquired into Darlington’s current state of relationship with Zlatan as the two have not been seen together in a while.
Speed Darlington disclosed that he and the “Zanku” crooner are still on good terms, even disclosing that Zlatan once came to his rescue when he had a gun-related problem in Lagos.
According to him, he was billed and called the rapper for help and Zlatan came to his rescue with law enforcement Officers.
Akpi stated that he and the rapper don’t talk every day but they are on good terms.
