Victony reveals Soweto’ Was A Freestyle.
Nigerian Afrobeat artist Anthony Ebuka Victor, known professionally as Victony has revealed that his smash hit song ‘Soweto’ was a freestyle.
Victony made this revelation in a recent interview on the well-liked podcast program Tea with Tay.
Perhaps the biggest song in Victony’s discography to date is “Soweto.” Released in 2022, the song was produced by Tempoe. A remix featuring the American rapper Don Toliver and the Nigerian vocalist Rema was released in March 2023.
Victony claims that “Soweto” was a freestyle that was recorded in 2021 rather than a song that he intended to write. He said that anyone could tell it was a freestyle since it sounded ‘unserious,’ in his words.
He said that ‘Soweto‘ was recorded on the same day that he recorded ‘Rosemary,’ as well.

In another news, Victony has disclosed that the horrific accident he was involved in 2021 left him in a coma for three to four days.
In the most recent Tea with Tay podcast, the singer discussed the painful experience.
The performer also shares details of his early days as a musician, his transition from rap to Afrobeats, the horrifying automobile accident in which he lost a friend, and nearly lost the use of his legs, how his life has altered since that event, valuing life, and more.
The singer also discusses his career path, going from an up-and-coming artist to a household name, collaborating with Burna Boy and other Nigerian celebrities, and a lot more.
Talking about the accident, he revealed that when he came out of a coma, someone told him that their automobile had been hit by another vehicle.
He said, “Just leaving the club, on our way back, I slept off. I was tired. That was like my first time outside up to that time. So, I slept off. When I woke up, I was in the hospital with my dad. I was like, What’s happening? Because my parents didn’t know I was in Lagos. So, I was like, “Why is my dad here?” And he told me I was out for like 3 or 4 days.”
