“If you’re tired of me, then switch,” Somizi on bagging a new TV show
Somizi Mhlongo is thrilled to be a panellist on the Masked Singer show. On the new program, the radio personality will play a detective with Sithelo Shozi, J’Something, and Skhumba.
Furthermore, Mhlongo responds to people criticising him for serving as a “judge” on the new show during the press conference for the new programme.
“The first thing when the news goes out, people are going to say ‘Ah Somizi again judging’ and we are not judging, I think they’ll get a pleasant surprise to understand that this is not a singing competition like any other. We are not judges, we are panellists, we are exactly what the audience is, we are just given the voices. But we are exactly what the audience experience,” he said.
Mhlongo claims he has always been true to himself and won’t alter anything.
“I’ve been myself from day one, and I would never change anything for anything or for anyone, so if you are tired of me, then switch. What makes me where I am today is my authenticity. I find it very sad for people to always adjust based on where they are. I am not a chameleon. Somizi has always been this, you’ll see Somizi at a different show but he will still be Somizi.”

Moreover, Recently, former friends Unathi Nkayi and Somizi Mhlongo had a change of heart in 2022 meanwhile, in a recent interview, Unathi discusses the reasons behind her breakup with Som.
After her divorce from Thomas Msengana, Nkayi claims that although the media celebrity didn’t turn against her, their friendship ended because he took a stand.
“Thomas and I got divorced. You [Gareth Cliff] and Randall Abrahams didn’t choose sides and he did. Even when we sat at the judging table and I was professional, he chose sides. It was fine for him to go on boy’s trips with Thomas, but we said you don’t cross this line now. He’d come back and speak smack about me on the same reality show, so now you’re showing you’re choosing sides.” she said.
