Chike silences troll with N1M gift after Mohbad collaboration criticism
Nigerian artist Chike has responded to a critical social media troll in the most unexpected way, showering the online user with a N1M gift.
The troll had accused Chike of gaining fame through his collaboration with the late musician Mohbad, specifically their hit song “Egwu,” which became popular before Mohbad’s passing.
The online exchange began when the troll, @hate_ofx, mockingly claimed, “Mohbad made you,” implying that Chike owed his success to the collaboration. Chike, known for his witty comebacks, initially responded with a sharp retort, saying, “Your mother made you.”
However, when the troll persisted, Chike surprised everyone by offering to send him N1 million, attributing the troll’s negativity to hunger. “I know say na hunger. Hunger boy, Oya and eat,” Chike wrote.
To the astonishment of many, Chike followed through on his offer and sent the troll N1 million, effectively shutting down the negative commentary.
This unexpected act of generosity has been widely praised by fans, who view it as a classy and unexpected response to the provocation.
Chike’s collaboration with Mohbad on “Egwu” had indeed topped charts across streaming platforms, leading some to speculate that he was riding on Mohbad’s fame. However, Chike’s generous gesture in response to the troll’s accusations has not only silenced the criticism but also highlighted his character and commitment to rising above negativity.
