A relationship can’t work if only one person is invested in it – Simi
Nigerian singer Simi has shared her thoughts on relationships, emphasizing the importance of mutual effort and understanding for a successful partnership. Speaking on the Zero Conditions Podcast, Simi stressed that relationships require compromise, vulnerability, and effective communication.
Simi emphasized that one person cannot make a relationship work alone. “It takes two, three, or four… it definitely takes more than one person; it takes a village,” she said. She added that love requires sacrifice and compromise, but it must be a mutual effort.
Simi highlighted the importance of good communication in relationships, saying it’s essential for staying connected and working through differences. “Communication is hearing someone and hearing what they’re saying… even if you disagree, you’re meeting it with love and compassion,” she explained.

“I have a take; one person cannot make a relationship work. I don’t care how many prayers you pray, how hard you work, or how much therapy you do. If one person is the only one investing in the relationship, the relationship is not working; it can never work… Love requires vulnerability, compromise, and sacrifice, but it has to be in a ‘I know that I have to put part of myself down in this relationship, but I don’t want to be doing it myself’ type of way.”
Simi’s insights on relationships offer valuable wisdom for those seeking to build strong and lasting partnerships. Her emphasis on mutual effort, communication, and compromise serves as a reminder that relationships require work and dedication from all parties involved.
