Simi speaks on women competing in music, advocating for unity among them
Popular Nigerian singer Simi has voiced her concerns about the divisive nature of female competition within the music industry.
During a recent appearance on a foreign podcast hosted by Angela Yee on Tuesday, May 7, 2024, Simi discussed the harmful effects of rivalry among women in music.
On the podcast, Simi highlighted how competition can escalate unnecessarily, leading to distractions and tension. She stressed the importance of unity among female artists, emphasizing that they all possess the potential to thrive without succumbing to rivalry.
The “Men Are Crazy” crooner also noted that comparisons between artists often intensify with the emergence of new talents, further fueling competition. Despite this, she commended collaborations between female artists, particularly citing her own collaboration with Tiwa Savage.
This discussion comes in the wake of recent headlines surrounding Simi addressing flirtatious remarks made about her by producer Samklef and singer Brymo. Samklef previously claimed credit for Simi’s success on X, sparking controversy. However, Simi responded by stating that she does not know who Samklef is, dismissing the allegations.

During an interview on Angela Yee’s podcast, Way Up, on Tuesday, May 7, 2024, Simi disclosed that while she and Falz undeniably share an exceptional musical “chemistry,” their connection often gets misinterpreted by the public.
Despite maintaining a tight-knit friendship, many mistakenly perceive their artistic collaboration as indicative of a romantic involvement.
Simi teased an upcoming collaboration with Falz, slated for release later this month, expressing her enthusiasm for the forthcoming single while withholding its title but confirming Falz’s participation in the project.
