Nigerian singer Simi has joined the nation in mourning the tragic loss of 22 young lives in the recent school building collapse in Plateau state, which also left 132 injured.

Simi took to social media to express her outrage and heartbreak, lamenting the negligence and lack of value for human life in Nigeria. “All those babies just gone like that because of people’s negligence. The worst thing about Nigeria is the lack of value for life. The things people die for are so maddening,” she said.

Her sentiments echo the widespread anger and frustration among Nigerians, demanding accountability and improved prioritization of safety and human life in the country.

The tragic incident has sparked a national conversation on the need for improved infrastructure and a greater value for human life.

Simi’s voice joins the chorus of Nigerians calling for change and greater accountability in the wake of this avoidable tragedy.

In other news, Simi has apologized after facing backlash for wearing a revealing swimsuit to a poolside event.

Some fans criticized Simi, arguing that as a married woman, she should have dressed more modestly.

In response, Simi took to her Instagram account on July 9, 2024, to address the issue in a witty manner and apologize for wearing the one-piece swimsuit.

“I just came here feeling repentant; yesterday I went to the swimming pool and I wore a swimsuit, guys, and I’m just so sorry,” Simi began, acknowledging the backlash. “Honestly, I just wasn’t thinking; I didn’t think.”

The singer playfully noted that she would wear a kaftan to the next pool party she attends. “My friend told me, ‘Sims, you can’t wear a swimsuit at the pool; you’re married’. I should have known better; I didn’t know better, and I’m sorry.

Next time I go to the swimming pool, as a sign of respect to my husband, I will wear a kaftan. I will do better than the best. I don’t want to disappoint you,” she said.
