Grammy-nominated Nigerian producer Shizzi (Oluwaseyi Akerele), one of the defining architects of modern Afrobeats, has officially announced the launch of his record label, OBG Records (Ordained By God), marking what he calls “a new era for African music built on legacy, purpose, and discovery.”

With over a billion career streams and a catalogue that has powered Afrobeats’ global rise, Shizzi’s fingerprints are on some of the genre’s most timeless records, from Davido’s “Dami Duro” and Wizkid’s “Love My Baby” to Wande Coal’s “Baby Face,” as well as high-profile collaborations with Beyoncé, Chris Brown, and Fireboy DML.
From his humble beginnings as a church drummer to becoming a world-class producer, Shizzi’s story mirrors the evolution of Afrobeats itself, raw, spiritual, and boundless.
Now, with OBG Records, he takes a bold leap from hitmaker to kingmaker. The new imprint is designed as a creative sanctuary for originality and depth, a deliberate move to restore substance to Afrobeats at a time when, according to Shizzi, virality often overshadows artistry.

“OBG is a reflection of faith, purpose, and legacy,” Shizzi said.
“Afrobeats is evolving fast, but it needs depth again. With OBG, I want to raise artists who don’t just chase hits — they make timeless music. Tayor is the beginning of that vision.”
The label’s first signee, Tayor, embodies that ethos. Over the past three years, Shizzi has mentored him closely, refining his sound, developing his artistry, and shaping every creative detail for a memorable debut. Their synergy has produced a sound both emotive and melodic, yet crafted for global resonance.
Tayor’s debut single, “Famous,” serves as the label’s first major statement, a witty, self-aware anthem that explores ambition, love, and the real meaning of fame. It anchors the #BetOnTayor campaign, an open invitation to fans and culture shapers to witness the rise of Afrobeats’ next wave.
With OBG Records, Shizzi isn’t just chasing another hit; he’s building a legacy rooted in faith, craftsmanship, and the rebirth of meaningful music in Afrobeats.
