Dancehall singer, Shegah returns with a new single tagged, ‘Cool Chop’.
The season is off to the right start with the charismatic Dancehall diva Shegah’s brand-new song, “COOL CHOP.” This song is meant to be played again and over again since it features traditional Afrobeats rhythms and shakers, lovely harmonies, and an enticing hook.
After receiving the rhythm from her producer Abochi, the vocalist immediately got into a “writing mood.” Shegah refers to “young ladies squandering money from elderly men” as the subject of this particularly daring song. Shegah is back with “COOL CHOP,” a fun, colorful, and wholly danceable song that will no doubt gain a lot of attention this summer.
Shegah transitioned to her solo projects and collaborated with numerous hit-making artists of the era, including Praye, Tony Harmony, Castro, Mzbel, Reggie Zippy, Yaa Pono, Samini, Jupiter, and many more. When Ghana’s most renowned musicians and the changing music scene hit, Shegah decided to hibernate and rebrand her music.
This shift became a success for her, particularly in the UK, where tracks like ‘Dem Marking Time’ reached the top of the charts and won Music Video of the Year at NELAS 2018.
