How Zlatan helped me get my first record deal – Shallipopi
Fast-rising musician Crown Uzama, also known as Shallipopi, shared the important role rapper Zlatan Ibile played in giving his career a much-needed boost.
Shallipopi revealed that he initiated contact with the ‘Lagos Anthem‘ artist through social media, and to his surprise, Zlatan responded.
In an interview on the Zero Conditions podcast, the 23-year-old Plutomania crooner disclosed that he had requested Zlatan Ibile to collaborate on the remix of his song, “Elon Musk.”
It was during their studio session that Shallipopi crossed paths with his then-future record label boss, Dapper, the CEO of Dvpper Music.
Despite reaching out to several artists for the remix, Shallipopi emphasized that Zlatan was the only one who not only responded but did so promptly. The positive interaction with Zlatan marked a turning point in Shallipopi’s career, eventually leading to significant developments such as the formation of his own record label, Plutomania Records, and the signing of two new artists.
He said; “I said let me message Zlatan so that he will reply me. I said ‘Baba abeg oh make we do remix for this Elon Musk song oh’, ASAP e just show seen I just faint. He said ‘Okay I am coming to Nigeria today.‘
I showed people in my house but they did not believe… They come see say na him. Zlatan come back call me come studio, make I come do remix.”
