Shallipopi Drops His Management Company, Dapper Music Limited For Attempting To Exploit Him With A 30% Forever Deal.
Afropop sensation Shallipopi has announced his departure from Dapper Music, citing issues of exploitation and financial mismanagement by the record label’s management. His announcement follows a similar move by fellow artist Seyi Vibez, who also left the label recently.
In an official statement posted on Instagram, Shalipopi expressed his disappointment, detailing his reasons for the decision. He highlighted a lack of financial transparency, conflicts of interest that hindered his career progress, and an oppressive “forever deal” as key factors behind his departure.
In his statement, he wrote: “I come to you today with a heavy heart. I’m officially ending my agreements with Dapper Music. I had to take this decision after my trust was broken, my finances mishandled, and my rights as an artist were disregarded. I’ve worked hard and deserve to know where my money is going. I was denied access to my money.”
Shalipopi also called on his fans to dissociate themselves from activities involving him and the label while expressing gratitude for their continued support throughout his career.
This development has sparked conversations about the treatment of artists within the Nigerian music industry, particularly regarding unfair contracts and lack of transparency. Fans and industry watchers are eager to see Shalipopi’s next steps as he navigates his career independently.
