Shakira cancels concert after hospitalisation in Peru during tour

Global pop icon Shakira has been forced to cancel her scheduled concert in Peru after being rushed to the hospital due to an abdominal issue.
The ‘Hips Don’t Lie‘ singer announced her Instagram story on February 16, 2025, revealing that her doctors have advised her against performing in her current condition.
“I am sorry to inform you all that last night I had to go to the ER for an abdominal issue and am currently hospitalised. The doctors whose care I am currently under have communicated that I am not in good enough condition to perform this evening,” she wrote.
Shakira expressed her deep regret over the cancellation, assuring fans that she hopes to recover soon and return to the stage.
“I am very sad to not be able to take the stage today. I’ve been looking forward to reuniting with my incredible fans here in Peru. I hope to be released and well tomorrow so I’m able to perform. My team and the promoters are already working on a new date to communicate to you. Thank you all for your understanding. I love you all. Shak,” she added.
The singer had only just arrived in Peru for the Lima leg of her Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran (LMYNL) world tour a day before, making the news particularly disappointing for her fans. Known for her electrifying performances and global hits, Shakira had been actively promoting her latest album on tour.
While specific details about her health condition remain undisclosed, her statement reassured fans that she remains optimistic about a quick recovery.
