Seun Kuti Recounts Terrifying Moment Bullet Pierced His Hotel Window in the U.S.

Afrobeat singer and activist Seun Kuti recently recounted a terrifying brush with danger while staying at a hotel in the United States (U.S.) after a stray bullet pierced through his room’s window.
In a video shared on his Instagram, Seun expressed his shock and disbelief, stating:
“Tell me you’re in America without telling me you’re in America. I’m in my hotel room just chilling and boom.”
The clip showed a visible bullet hole in the glass window, underscoring just how narrowly the incident could have turned tragic. While visibly shaken, Seun used the moment to reflect critically on the perception of Western nations as symbols of safety and civility, writing in his caption:
“I read somewhere that these are the civilized people. 😢😢”
Although he didn’t reveal which U.S. city the incident occurred in, he reassured fans that he is safe. The post has since generated a wave of concern and support from followers and the broader Afrobeat community.

Recall, Seun Kuti has stirred fresh debate with his explosive claims about the forces allegedly behind the controversial arrest of social media critic VeryDarkMan (VDM).
According to Kuti, powerful religious figures and financial institutions, particularly GTBank, are using their influence to suppress dissent and silence critics.
In his statement, Seun Kuti cited his lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, who also represents VDM, as his source of information. He disclosed that he is currently pursuing legal action against GTBank and other Nigerian banks, adding: “To me, there’s no good bank in Nigeria.”
Kuti didn’t mince words when implicating top religious leaders: “As the Federal Government runs Nigeria, these big pastors run it too… It’s the so-called people of God that are fighting VeryDarkMan for telling the truth.”
