Seun Kuti clarifies relationship with online activist Verydarkman amid controversy
Nigerian Afrobeat icon Seun Kuti has clarified his relationship with online activist Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as Verydarkman, amidst the ongoing controversy involving popular crossdresser Bobrisky and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Seun, the son of legendary musician Fela Kuti, addressed the situation, explaining that he has no control over Verydarkman’s actions.
He revealed that while Verydarkman had informed him of Bobrisky’s alleged bribe involving the EFCC, he did not have prior knowledge of the leaked audio call or its contents. Seun emphasized that he was not involved in the decision to expose the conversation.
“I didn’t have any say in how Verydarkman interpreted or shared the clip,” Seun explained. “Even if I had tried to stop him, he wouldn’t have listened.”
Additionally, Seun apologized for the way Verydarkman addressed senior lawyer Femi Falana in the viral video linked to the controversy, acknowledging that it was inappropriate.
The controversy surrounding Verydarkman has sparked widespread online debates. Seun’s statement serves to clarify his role and distance himself from the activist’s decisions, reaffirming that he had no influence over how events unfolded.
