Seun Kuti weighs in on Bobrisky’s EFCC controversy
Afrobeat musician Seun Kuti has weighed in on the growing controversy surrounding crossdresser Bobrisky’s allegations against the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
During an Instagram Live session, Kuti revealed that social media activist VeryDarkMan (VDM) initially shared an audio recording with him, which implicated Bobrisky in a money laundering case.
The recording allegedly exposed that the EFCC accepted a ₦15 million bribe to drop charges against Bobrisky.
In the audio, Bobrisky reportedly boasted about not serving his jail term for naira abuse and mentioned rapper Falz and his father, prominent human rights lawyer Femi Falana, as part of his defense.
Seun Kuti, who has had his own legal challenges, stated that he encouraged VDM to publicly reveal the evidence, believing it was essential to expose the alleged corruption.
Kuti emphasized the disparity in how the justice system treats different individuals, noting that while he served his jail term, Bobrisky allegedly avoided his punishment due to special treatment. “I served my jail term, so why was Bobrisky freed?” Kuti questioned.
Kuti’s involvement has added another dimension to the debate, intensifying conversations about corruption and unequal treatment within Nigeria’s justice system. The case has drawn significant public attention, with many calling for greater transparency and accountability.
