You politicised Mohbad’s death – Seun Kuti criticizes Iyabo Ojo
Afrobeat musician Seun Kuti has openly criticized Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo, accusing her of politicizing the tragic death of music artist Mohbad.
This comes amid the ongoing dispute between Ojo and self-proclaimed activist VeryDarkMan.
After Ojo called out Kuti on Sunday, June 30, 2024, he took to an Instagram livestream to share his views on the controversy, accusing Ojo of using Mohbad’s death to further an agenda against singer Naira Marley.
“I don’t do personal things because I can’t stand it,” Kuti stated. “You people politicized Mohbad’s death. I don’t believe you did it to find justice for him. I believe it’s just a movement against Naira Marley. Nobody can tell me otherwise.”
Seun Kuti also questioned the validity of government findings regarding Mohbad’s cause of death, highlighting conflicting reports. “Do you accept the government’s findings? I found a report stating his cause of death was substance abuse. If you believe the government, then what are we doing here?” he asked Ojo.
He added, “Where is the ‘Justice for Mohbad’ movement now? Where is that energy? If you can use that energy against Naira Marley, you can use your influence to quench bad things in our society. But you people have an agenda!”
Kuti’s comments have further fueled the ongoing debate surrounding Mohbad’s death and the motivations behind the calls for justice.
