Why I am not close with my first daughter – Seun Kuti drops shocker
Musician and activist Seun Kuti recently declared fatherhood as his greatest achievement, despite a strained relationship with his first daughter. In an interview with media personality Timi Agbaje, Seun reflected on the joy of raising his daughter, despite having children with two different mothers.
Seun expressed that being a father and raising his daughter have been the most fulfilling accomplishments of his life. However, he also acknowledged the difficulty with his first daughter, attributing the lack of relationship to a disconnect with her mother.
“The greatest thing I have ever achieved is becoming a father, having my daughter, being with her, and raising her,” Seun shared. “I have two kids but I’m not really close to my other daughter, but to have the joy of that is the greatest achievement of my life for sure.”
When Timi asked for clarification on how he could be close to one daughter and not the other, Seun explained, “No, it’s complicated circumstances; no family is perfect, you know, but I’m not close to the mother of my other daughter. I wasn’t married when I had my other daughter; interestingly, I had only had premarital sex twice before my first daughter was born.”
Seun’s candid discussion highlights the complexities of family dynamics and his commitment to fatherhood.
