Seun Kuti reacts to news of police rescuing workers who were locked in a rice factory.
According to a report by the BBC, the Nigerian Police rescued over 126 workers locked in a rice factory by their employers in the northern part of Kano.
The workers were paid twenty-eight thousand Naira monthly and were promised an additional five thousand Naira.
However, they were locked in the Indian owned factory to work through the coronavirus pandemic and were given little food, not enough breaks. They were also not allowed to pray and weren’t allowed to have Family Visits.
Seun Kuti reacting to the story blamed the issue on what he called Poverty of the mind and poverty of the stomach.
He also charged Nigerian lawyers to take up their case and wondered Lawyers were scared to defend people enslaved in their own country.
