Seun Kuti Escalates Feud With Wizkid, Claims Singer Must Remove Fela Tattoo to Regain Success

Afrobeats singer Seun Kuti has intensified his ongoing public feud with Wizkid, marking what he described as the seventh consecutive day of calling out the Grammy-winning artiste and his fan base, popularly known as Wizkid FC.
During an Instagram Live session on Wednesday, January 21, 2025, Seun Kuti launched fresh verbal attacks on Wizkid, referring to the singer and his supporters as “the biggest clout chasers in Nigeria.”
He went further to place a curse on the artiste, claiming Wizkid would not regain success unless he removed the tattoo of Afrobeat legend Fela Anikulapo Kuti from his arm and replaced it with one of his biological father.
The outburst follows alleged remarks by Wizkid in which the “Essence” crooner reportedly described Seun Kuti as “a fool at forty,” mocked his use of a ring light to address Wizkid FC online, called him “hungry,” and claimed to be bigger than Fela Kuti.
Reacting to those comments, Seun accused Wizkid of harbouring resentment toward Fela despite having his image tattooed on his body. He argued that the singer lacks originality and fails to draw inspiration from his own roots.
Seun also criticised Wizkid’s multiple stage aliases, including Wizkid, Big Wiz, Machala, and Big Bird, alleging that the “Big Bird” nickname was taken from him, referencing his Instagram handle @bigbirdkuti.
In contrast, Seun expressed open support for Burna Boy, wearing a chain he said was gifted to him by the Grammy-winning singer. He praised Burna Boy for publicly acknowledging that Fela Anikulapo Kuti remains the only artist bigger than him.
Seun further questioned Wizkid’s decision to tattoo Fela instead of his own father, accusing both the singer and his fan base of failing to value homegrown inspiration.
He also alleged that Wizkid has been musically inactive in recent months and has not been booked for shows, though he provided no evidence to support the claim.
Additionally, Seun issued a warning to Asake, urging the singer to be cautious following his joint EP with Wizkid. He claimed Wizkid often seeks relevance by associating with other artistes.
Seun Kuti concluded the live session with more insults directed at Wizkid but stated that he would no longer respond to the singer or his fan base, insisting that his objective had been achieved. He added that his focus has now shifted to preparing for his scheduled performances later this year.
